Hello everyone, I’m using a PXN V6 Direct Drive 8Nm wheelbase, and in BeamNG the force feedback feels excessively strong / heavy. Even during normal driving, the wheel applies much more force than it should. I’m looking for settings that feel softer, more natural, and more controllable.
I have a 9nm Moza and I find 220 game strength is about right for most things I drive. You can always adjust individual vehicle configs up and down in FFB in config tuning. Make sure lat G strength is off or at least low. Honestly it mostly blunts other feelings you need, like the already nigh undetectable understeer. I usually use “reduce strength when parked”, also helps a little with the wheel being too heavy at low speeds while simultaneously too light at high speeds. Make sure your wheel software settings aren’t the problem. I use no “natural friction” in my Moza settings, only about 30% natural damper and 150% natural inertia to calm the wheel a bit. You don’t necessarily want your FFB to feel “real”, IE whatever you are used to driving IRL. Whereas power steering is approximately universal IRL, many configs in Beam are non PS equipped, so that makes a difference. More importantly, many real world steering systems are very “dead” and convey almost no useful info to the driver. This is okay because in a real car you actually feel what the car is doing with your body. In a sim you don’t have that unless you own a motion rig. So you want the wheel to tell you as much as it can. At 8nm this will mean you want the FFB as high as you can get it without clipping, and go easy filtering settings to preserve detail. That will cause the FFB wheel to feel heavier, more active and less smooth and “rubbery” than your real car in all likelihood. https://www.beamng.com/threads/the-purpose-and-implementation-of-ffb-in-driving-sims.108941/
