BeamNG should remain PC exclusive and un-consolized.

I'm saying it would be evident the PS5 version is running with lower resolution textures, lower resolution shadows, it might even be possible to see downgrades to to the physics engine though recreating things 1:1 in this game is nearly impossible.

And I guarantee whatever the PS5 is capable of will be the new PC maximum settings to create "feature parity" so console users don't cry about how much better the PC version looks.

"Only rich people like me that can buy a NASA PC can play this, these peasants should be left behind" type of complaining here.

Point out at least one person who agrees with you. The only one who is revolting is you.

This is such a stupid take. If anything, devs making sure the game runs well on PS5 benefits you and your million dollar PC.

"Rich person". I make $36k a year. I merely prioritize gaming as my primary hobby and thus have appropriate equipment.

Except we know "Optimization" in 2026 is codespeak for "Downgrade"

Go look at how Ready or Not was "optimized" for console release and the "optimizations" still haven't been fixed to this day.

but the way i look at this i don't like the idea my self but we should take more care and make sure we don't end up like how minecraft community is where no person can agree on anything. i mean look at the way something the discord is handled vs the forums.

one singular game made by a completely different company having bad optimization doesn't automatically mean EVERY SINGLE GAME will be the same way

I don't understand the appeal of Beam on console to be honest and yeah, the game is a pig to run despite the monumental effort to optimize it. I'm sure it'll run, but like, I guess 16gb of ram is too limited now and I constantly get warning messages in Beam.
However, I've been wondering for a while where the revenue stream is coming from since so many people did buy it over a decade ago. I'm still kind of concerned that Beam doesn't really have any actual direction nor end goal. This guy is definitely crying over nothing though, there's been continuous free updates for over a decade, I'm more than happy with that.

Dear god no. Limitation breeds creativity, and just brute forcing the problem is why games run like crap now because none of them optimize for anything. The guys in the 90s made their own engines and created incredible tricks to make their 3d worlds able to run on something as crap as a NES. Hope you're quite pleased with your UE5 performance. Those 90s devs were goddamn black magic wizards making better stuff than anything put out today.

Does Beam actually let you do that? Steam usually doesn't give you a choice to not update.

Clearly I can't convince you people.

I eagerly wait all the apologies when PS5/v.39 launches and it destroys the game.

Optimization for us is about improving, not downgrading. We are working hard to optimize memory and rendering as well as other systems, so we don't have to sacrifice quality or features as much as possible. Often, these optimizations actually grant us more headroom to improve the quality, not reduce it. Lowering quality is always our final option, not the first.

Ultimately, the game is designed to be scalable, so that everyone, from Steam Deck users to those with high end PC, can experience the game

Alright buddy, I eagerly await the day when 0.39 releases and I can say "I told you so" because none of this shit you are fearmongering about actually happened. The devs know how to optimize a game. Might I remind you that a majority of them have been working on this game for 10+ years now.

Ah, thanks for stating that. I will stand up and cheer for your happy life.
You are saying that like every damn person around you makes 36k $ a year. I personally have a university life to manage in several months, I can indeed afford some RTX 4070, but then I will stay empty handed and will have nothing to live on. I am pretty much happy with my GTX 1060, thank god I have i7-8700 so beamng runs 65-70 fps for me on lower-mid settings. And, you know, I don't complain at all.

Wait what, you can predict future? I don't know, if you are so confident with that prediction, please tell us the date of release for 0.39, that would be much more useful from you.

idk i can't see through how this will help the game given so much of it is on computer side then the usage and making that a console has to go through but i am going make people out who buy it on console a bad person no. this to me seems like a idea that doesn't have a goal. so as far as i will say would hate on it too much or hype it up given this doesn't seem to hold what doesn't have a idea unlike on desktop you can do more stuff and not be locked out of things like console. it's just feel's like this isn't holding the water it should.. *edit* here wanted add some stuff I that one of the staff memebers are here maybe there can be a bit more in look and out look on the good and bad?

SO YOU DONT DENY IT IS AN OPTION?

Lowering quality should NEVER be an option. Worst case scenarion you can make it clear a settings level or feature is targeting future hardware.

I remember DOOM 3 when set to Ultra back in the day used to display a message "These settings are intended for future hardware, and requires 512MB of VRAM" (512MB of VRAM was an unthinkable quantity in 2003. It would be like having a 32GB GPU in 2026. Only one consumer card had it in the form of the GeForce 6800 Ultra 512 which sold only around 1000 units due to its cost).

i think it is helping beamng its bringing new players to the game which is always good plus optimization that helps the pc version too and i think the goal IS to bring it to console

yeah but console is never a end goal and a dev team wouldnt open a door unless they wanted to for other reasons then just porting to. you just don't open a door.
