Hellos! I LOOVE this update like WOW!!! Just a quick question... Will RTX be available in the near future? (possibly version 0.4) Cheers, Fellow BeamNG Enjoyer
That sounds awesome, console support was not something I expected but it somehow makes sense. I know mod support and the repo isn't confirmed yet, but are there any tips for modders to ensure compatibility with the PS5 if it ends up happening. I'm mainly curious how things like UI apps will work or if they will be replaced entirely by a new system.
Just read the announcement. I'm pleasantly surprised they've been working on DX12 instead of continuing work on Vulkan. Though I must ask, what does this mean for the Vulkan renderer? Will it still be worked on, or is all effort going toward DX12 now?
Finally something good is happening in BeamNG, things that have been missing for a long time... even official multiplayer they mentioned? Hallelujah... bring it on!
Based on what I've read, I simply believe that the devs do not currently have a lot of experience with consoles, and the PS5 was an opportunity that they took (I think they contacted a few devs on the platform), while the Xbox is still more uncharted territory. I also think they could've had to choose at one given point, and the PS seemed like the reasonable option. Probably there will be an Xbox version, I don't see any reason for there to not be one. But they chose the PS5, and so they'll probably not even consider trying the Xbox until they have the PS5 version consolidated and the capabilities to try it again.
lets look at it in a different way: the weakest PS5 is the base model, which, roughly finding a PC equivalent, meets the RECOMMENDED requirements on Steam. whilst making a version for Xbox Series X would also require making sure it works on the Series S, which would make optimizations take longer. the PS5 also sold more units (albeit it took until recently for it to overtake the PS3, which just proves that the 9th gen has been doing poorly)
They are planning to update Vulkan alongside direct3D 12 and they said they fixed most of the Vulkan issues. They probably didn't talk about it much in the article because them going from direct3D 11 to 12 was a bigger change. Car killer said: "Yes, most of Vulkan issues are now fixed, including flashing. As for performance and optimizations, Direct3D 12 and Vulkan will be on par with all current and future features and optimizations possible."
From what I've read Xbox is way easier to port to compared to the PS5, mostly because the Xbox is a Windows based console so they don't have to change as much compared to the PS5, where they most likely had to completely rewrite the graphics engine to work with Sony's graphics API and other core systems. Most likely they didn't do Xbox because like others might've said, the Series S wouldn't be able to handle the game. So, since Xbox requires both Series X and Series S to work with the game, it was not ported there.
im not an expert, but i thinkv think the nintendo switch 2 doesnt meet the requirements for the game they didnt release it to xbox because the series s has underpowered graphics and only 10gb of RAM, and microsoft (to my knoledge) forces you to push games to both X|S, so.. they might release it to project helix when it comes out though
I dont know if this were ever mentioned in this thread, but seeing the new lightning, fog, and cloud update makes me wonder, has the transparency issue fixed with this upcoming update? Because for the longest time, glass textures are always shown ontop of any other textures. Like for example, putting max fog and having multiple cars roam around, and the immersion immediately breaks by "floating" glasses.
