Hi Jagga here, just posting this for people to see and hopefully get some positive feedback/responses. This map is a work in progress and a long term project. It is a very detailed real life road in Tasmania (AUS) and is my first map creation. The map is perfect for drifting and hill climb but i have also added some offroad tracks. The main road itself is true to life almost 100% but the offroad is not so much. I will be releasing the map on patreon very soon for anyone that is interested and would like to help me out with all the time and effort put in to this awesome map.
why are we doing patreon? just mod for the community... im also making an australian touge, have over 1000 hours on it and it cost me real-world money for the data to make it 1:1 accurate, and thats releasing for free... why?
Your preview looks pretty bad if you have spent 1000 hours not going to lie. And thats your choice to release it free.
That map is planned to be extremely large making fussing over fine details time-prohibitive, and due to its size it also uses 3D mesh terrain instead of a BeamNG terrain block; this has several drawbacks including the inability to paint grass on the surface. You won't endear yourself to the community by releasing this as a subscription, let alone a one-time purchase, and this is not my personal judgement but an observation based on the paid maps that have been released so far - the only well-received paid maps have been freeroam maps (not individual roads or courses) that are at least equal to the vanilla maps in quality, sold for a low one-time fee, and usually include a large number of custom-modeled objects. Even the creator of the acclaimed Norwegian Backroads map who was dead set on it being Patreon only has since added a one-time purchase option.
400 hours were on the old version... 400 hours alone were spent remeshing a 1:1 recreation of that road from very high quality paid data from the Victorian government, sooo... ur kinda just being disingenuous lol, its literally just mesh terrain, not really something you can compare over "looks" lol... --- Post updated --- my map actually will have grass fyi, its just a little bit of a weird way to do it without a terrainblock, i can explain it more on my post if u wanna know
Particularly stoked for this one. The texture on the guideposts aren't quite right and 0.39 lighting would help the trees in particular carry depth and weight and not just glow in the sun, but please do update us with more when you get time
