I appreciate the positive comment! In fact, to deliver some more good news, I have been working on the next update for the past several weeks. As it won't be a hotfix like last time, I've checked off a few more things on the to-do list (i.e. some more content additions). Thus, the S60 mod isn't abandoned just yet. While there are still a few more loose ends I need to deal with before I can release the update, I am confident that it will be worth the wait! The following screenshot should be enough for a preview on what y'all can look forward to in the near future
The teaser screenshot I provided should have been enough to highlight the upcoming changes. But if you want me to elaborate, then sure, why not? It would be a perfect time to answer your questions anyway... The most obvious is skin support, after years of not having them. Technically, the UV mappings should have been done with the Forza models, though they were somehow broken while porting them to BeamNG. And rather than trying to salvage the Forza UV mappings, I ended up redoing them to be as close as the ones found on vanilla vehicles, which also means that the scratch-modeled meshes made for this mod are also UV mapped where applicable. While not perfect, something is better than nothing at least Another observation is additional wheel designs. The outgoing public build does not have the Sadia 5-spoke wheel design, but you can see that they now exist. It will be one of several wheel designs to be included in the next update! And finally, if you look closely, you might notice some beige on the seats; again, something not present in the current forum release. I've added a few more interior customization options so that actual Volvo owners can better recreate their vehicles virtually in BeamNG. And with the additional wheels to be added, the possibilities are expanded even further! To get back to what's left on the mod, I have to fix a few visual issues within the model itself. I was surprised that almost nobody reported most of them, though I am working on resolving those as much as possible. But the biggest question mark is whether or not I should revisit a proper digital gauge cluster for facelift models. A few folks I know of might have the solution I am looking for, but don't be too surprised if I end up postponing this feature for yet another update... I am still hoping to get this out sooner rather than later. It will definitely be this year if nothing else, though as the saying goes, patience is a virtue
Patience is virtue. You people are so impatient for stuff disregarding messages that are literally right above this one
Oh dear, I just realised how long ago I wrote that... But my point still stands! @baarry5444 , if there are ever plans to add the analogue facelift gauge cluster, I could provide more reference images!
hey @baarry5444 I've noticed some model issues on the interiors including textures, interiors seats model and textures should be reworked as well they are very outdated and bad in general
Now that BeamNG version 0.39 came out a few days ago at the time of writing this post, I am currently undecided on how I should approach working on the Volvo S60 mod. As it stands right now, I finished making the changes I needed to make on my end before 0.39 was released, and I am still waiting for the proper digital gauge cluster implementation to be sorted out. That, plus the fact that I need to revise the glowmaps to the new lighting system in 0.39, is the reason why the update is being held back right now. (I briefly considered asking someone to bake the lights on the Volvo, but that will be postponed for another time.) Right now, I have two choices: I can either release the update as-is and come back to it at a later time, or I can continue waiting for the digital gauges, all while making some adjustments to make it 0.39-ready. I am leaning towards the latter option, but what do you think? Post your thoughts on what I should do regarding the S60 mod I appreciate the offer, but adding the facelift analog gauges is something that I don't have the motivation for at this time. However, I could revisit this suggestion sometime in a future update. Thank you very much regardless
