Its in graphics. I forget what its called, but it was added a few updates ago. --- Post updated --- Its called mesh quality
That's not an LOD slider, though. With the mod, you could drastically increase the fidelity of objects at distance
Watch the stenyak video very closely. the popping is significant and much more worse than it is in the public build
Of course, modifying the underlying architecture of the engine to make it independent requires the efforts of developers. BeamNG has really changed a lot over the years.
Nah don't trust anything from that video. I have literally no clue what settings I was using, nor if any artists may have been playing around with italy assets either. Aside from being wip + meme, rather than a teaser of any kind. Just to give you an idea, for some of the stuff I do i use Lowest settings (so I can test for behaviour and bugs at 500+fps). So yeah, don't draw any conclusions at all.
I know i know But regardless, when debugging or testing for FPS-dependent issues, it's extremely useful to compare multi-hundred FPS vs single-digit FPS. Fun fact: I implemented an FPS randomizer options slider that is exclusive to our internal builds. Similar to 500fps vs 5fps situation, the main purpose of this slider is to verify the behaviours at perfectly smooth fps, versus at horribly stuttery fps
It's pretty much an extreme version of the mesh quality setting. It makes even my rx6600 cry at the max settings. I usually set it to normal since I noticed BeamNG can be a VRAM hog, and I only have 8GB.
Especially when your friends don’t have a wheel and barely play the game so you can show off your skills
I do wonder what sort of changes are being made to the lighting. If any of the devs wouldn't mind explaining I'm mostly concerned about the number of shadow casting light sources you can have which is the number one performance killer in current beamng. I'm amazed at how many lights Assetto Corsa with CSP can handle, wondering if we'll get to that level in Beam.
Mesh quality is a drop down list in vanilla, not a slider. Do you have any graphics mods installed that could be changing it?
