Floodlands ===== Floodlands is a volcanic island that was abandoned for years by a tsunami that hit the island. The area was permanently flooded but some of the land managed to not be flooded. The island also has a volcano, named Mount Flood. Mount Flood has never exploded, but always ooze lava out from it's top, creating a pool of lava down at the bottom of the volcano. Recently, a mysterious person found this island and thought of it as a serious off-road track. The island is now known as a off-road track. Many off road cars and trucks came to drive around, although 20% of the cars and trucks that drove here were either flooded or totaled. ===== This map is likely FPS Intensive. Also, I can't find a way to fix a couple of bugs such as Missing texture, loading as GridMap, etc. This does not happen on everyone. ===== New version [V2]: New tropical forest system. Fixed the trees_oak_canopy.dae bug. Fixed the bug spawning as GridMap. ===== This is a 512x512 map the features a flooded off-road area with a volcano (Mount Flood) as a decorative touch. I recommend not driving up Mount Flood. There is a risk of flooding your car. This map probably has BeamNG's first volcano. ===== If you have the Beta 0.5 or V1 version, delete the old Floodlands folder and cache and reinstall. This map strangely loads as GridMap to other people but me, so I'm working on fixing this. This download will stay up for people to help. I stopped working on this, here is the latest download. Download Current version: V2 NOTE: If this map is not going to work within a few updates, I will remove it and it will be private use! Someone needs to give me a reason why it is not working and how to fix it!
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. [FINISHED] I'm not seeing any download link right now, it looks good though!
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. [FINISHED] There is a download. I'll post an attachment of the map.
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. I have the thumbnail in my map list, but it load the gridmap when i try to load it. Looks good work btw!
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. Looks like the .mis and everything is a copy of Gridmap, with different description and paths. It's loading the files for your map from a different folder, probably Documents\BeamNG.drive\levels\Floodlands. Upload again with those files.
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. I'll re-upload it, but currently, I found a couple of problems the occured when making it V1. Trees are floating, not as smooth as I hoped. I'm going to fix that.
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. I know. I got a couple of feedbacks saying that this map isn't loading right. This is now On Hold till I get it fixed, I may have to start over. The download will stay up, though. By the way, I followed mecke96's tutorial on making a map. His tutorial said to copy GridMap and rename everything, which I did, but this seems to not work like it should.
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. [NOT WORKING RIGHT] Keep the download up and later tonight I'll see if I can help. - - - Updated - - - Having issues with Mediafire. Can you put the zip in the thread? Try copying the .mis from C\documents\BeamNG.drive\levels\Floodlands to your floodlands level in content\levels\Floodlands. Replace it when prompted. You should notice the date and time of the documents .mis is newer than the contents floodland .mis. Once you are satisfied the level looks good in the contents folder delete your levels cache in documents. Hopefully your level should show up properly.
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. [NOT WORKING RIGHT] I did a couple of stuff before copying the .mis and everything looks well. The map has a new forest system because Oak trees do not go well with tropical volcanic islands so it now has Palm trees (It also fixed the trees_oak_canopy.dae bug) and copied the .mis after that. I'm right now uploading a V2 version. -Update- V2 version is up, lets hope that the bug if fixed.
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. [FIXED] still doesnt work.. still loads Grid Map if you rename the ter and forest files you can get a partially working map.. but its still messed up. too bad cuz the level looks really cool!
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. [FIXED] Everytime I open this map, there are tons of missing textures
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. [FIXED] After correcting some errors in the .mis, it finally loaded with no errors, but this is what it loaded.
Re: Floodlands: The volcanic off-road island. [FIXED] I am having simmilar issues with my map. I ported my map over to my other PC to test it and it didnt load the terrain correctly. Could be the heightmap, could be something else.
Umm, I figured out whats going on here, but I dont know how to put it into words... Basically you are not getting the files packaged correctly. The files are in My Documents, and they need to be placed in the level folder and routed into that folder. That involves a lot of modifications. First, make sure all your textures are routed to the correct folder(Edit the materials.cs files of EVERYTHING.) After you have done that, Then find the following files for your level; The latest .MIS file for your level The latest .MIS.DECALS file for your level The latest .FOREST file for your level The latest .TER file for your level The latest _Basetex.dds for your level Ok, got those? Good. Now time to route them to your level. Lets start with the .MIS file. It contains the loading information for your level, in essence, what is loaded. First, make sure that the level is named something other than the stock map you built your level off of. Next, make sure that the path to your .ter file is correct. your path should look like this; "levels/YourLevelNameHere/YourLevelNameHere.ter" If it doesnt, correct it. YourLevelNameHere is a stand in for what your level is called. In both spots, you should put the foldername in. My example; "levels/foothills/foothills.ter" Ok, with that out of the way, off to the next part of path correction in the .mis file; Notice the paths for static objects. If they are not in the path to your level, they will not load for anyone else but you. If that is the case, you need to copy/paste all the art folders from your maps, and start again at step 1. IF your static objects are linked to your level, Great! Lets continue. You will notice that some of them have a path called "content/levels" This needs to be shortened. Essentially, anything with the "content" prefix or a capital L in the word "levels" needs to be corrected. Here is an example of a good path; "levels/foothills/art/shapes/buildings/ind_bld_06.dae" Once your paths are corrected, Then we can move on. If you followed all of the steps correctly, Package the map in a proper .ZIP format; .ZIP/levels/YourLevelNameHere/YourLevelFiles This will make it easier to test your map on another computer and make it easier on us to use it. If your textures were not correctly tied to your level when you made the level, you may need to retexture the level, and you may need to regain the textures, but you should be able to do that. Once everything in your level is corrected and in your level directory, then follow the instructions in this tutorial. If you need any more help I may be able to help you, so post it here or PM me. Trust me, I had the same issues with my map and once I followed what I posted here, I got my map working. If you have another PC in your house, USE IT TO TEST YOUR MAP! All that PC needs to do is load the map error free, and load with all textures showing. If this works, then your map is 100% ready for upload. If it doesn't load error free, it may be an error in the .MIS file, or in the materials.cs files of your art folder. I hope this helps you resume this wonderful project.
