Feel free to use, modify, and distribute my code as you see fit, and treat it as yours. Can I upload updated versions to this thread in the future like the previous ones?
I had to reupload the addon again, I've fixed one thing with the Batch Node Renaming feature, but caused another one with it. It should be fixed now in the latest zip. My apologies!
Cheers! Yeah if you have a new update, just post in here still, like you been doing, i can easily add it to my repo, will be a little while before I start to do my own releases anyways.
Do note this isn't a addon here, but a custom blender fork, cdae/dae, jbeam object/overlays, materials, vehicle importing/exporting is all done at C++ level, allows more things then what python based addons allow. Aim to have this has a Modding Tool Suite of sort, using the LTS version's of Blender has a main. Currently just implementing things, fine tune, rinse and repeat until i happy and things are polish enough.
alright, so i've been using this for a little while and already i am a bit fed up with how buggy the plugin is. first off, when i try to do the classic "duplicate & mirror" move (to make e.g. right fender from left fender), the plugin, no matter what, won't let me do it, because it thinks it's a good idea to link the duplicate's structure with the originals'. second, when i rename nodes from 38524tuyweruoiftihwehit9234458235987 to k10l (example), it destroys the faces and beams connecting to the node. one final issue is that if a node is renamed to a name that already existed, the node will turn to the original named node, thus fucking up the entire thing. i don't know if it's because of skill issues or the plugin being old or something else, but it is very annoying, and i really hope ts gets fixed
The addon is fundamentally built on top of existing JBeam files and the "parts" within them on your computer, making modifications or visualizing things related to them. In Blender, copying and mirroring a complete JBeam object would logically require creating a brand new "part" or a completely new JBeam file (because the object in Blender is directly linked to the stored file), which the addon is unfortunately not designed to handle. Not sure what is causing the issue, make sure the Rename All References is set correctly. I am going to create a safety check to monitor whether the entered name already exists. My version is a custom, completely amateur DIY modification built on top of the official one. If you experience any issues, it's worth giving the official addon a try as well.
ironically enough i am using the official one and not the community edits. will try to use the community edits though
i have a question about the community one you made. Does it support triangle generation somewhere, or not? If not, is it planned at some point, or would it be too complicated to do so?
If you select 3 or 4 nodes in the 3D Viewport, there will be an Add Triangle/Quad button on the JBeam sidepanel.
Does this version run on blender 5.2? I see it says 4.2+ and "download latest version at link" in the readme (so one assumes the latest version would work) but when i try to add it to blender i get "No module named 'typing. io' 'typing' is not a package" with the install from here, if i try to install the version from blenux git it doesnt even show up inside blender lol. Its highly likely im just doing something wrong somehow im pretty dumb, hell im probably already dumb for thinking it would work on 5.2 when the main is only made to work on 4.2 cause of the dae drop but yeag. pls elp
it may be the case that i just need to downgrade, I will still await a response from the contributors just in case but thanks for the heads up
my git repo is currently still abit wip, also was working on another project of mine, and busy with work, will try to get back to asap.
no worries king and or queen or monarch, i think what im attempting is far beyond my capability anyway so probably be months before i revisit attempting stuff in beam. thanks for the work you already do
