This does not work for me. I followed your instructions precisely and the console gives the error the mission file 'levels/canyon_of_speed/canyon_of_speed.mis' could not be found. Any tips? I placed it and extracted it in my beamng/levels directory and the zip file is in my mods directory. I had a feeling that it would not work because it is not packaged the way the devs intend terrain files to be packaged. http://www.beamng.com/threads/12533-How-do-I-package-my-terrain-properly

Why hundreds of people have installed without problem and now it crashes? I have do nothing on the original zip...
Well... Maybe the zip file is corrupt or the files conflict with other maps in cache... I don't know.. Sorry :(

I don't think it's the zip. I downloaded and have run it fine. The problem is confusion on the current file structure. I simply unzipped the map to a
generic folder and then copied it to the steam contents\levels folder. It works fine for me but not others apparently. All these document folders are
a royal pain in the ass.

I rarely try maps/tracks mods, but that was prior to coming back to beamng. I'm not too much a fan of tight circuits, which you shift the last speed once per lap or so... I like fast flowing circuits, and that's why I liked Nordschleife so much.

I given a try to the leap of death map, the modded one with the road, and was pretty impressed. Not this level of quality for sure, but it sure was enjoyable, and will likely spend quite a bit more time in.

I tried the canyon of speed yesterday.. and damn... too bad it was too late for me to plug in my wheel, was playing with the gamepad, but had a blast driving in there.

Awesome work, and knowing this is your first map (really? you never done any sort of level design, texturing, 3d and so on before?), is even more impressive. I hope your map ends up with the official selection, cause as many stated, it is this good.

I had a little problem tho after using your map. I'm stoked to see that I'm the first to notice it too, I read the whole 6 pages trying to find help about the issue, and spent about 4-5 hours figuring it out.

After using your map, I went back to working on mine, and to my horror, the nordschleife now had canyon red rocks! While they are beautiful in your map, it wasn't fitting at all in there! I looked *everywhere*, searched inside text file for the rock texture name, the shape, etc...

The first thing I did, was clear the levels cache folder, and did nothing. A look inside the newly created cache folder revealed canyon red rock imposters. I checked the diffuse rock texture in my folder, and it was of course grey.

Search search search some more, and I check in the materials.cs in the shapes/rocks folder for the X times, and notice the rock doesn't have a path, only texture name, the other two rocks type (dri and coast) had paths. So I had the path to make sure. I had already searched in both beamng documents and program files for files that might be coming from your maps and found none. No materials.cs were overriding anything.

But it didn't worked either. Then I noticed the rock material for the small and large rock had no diffuse color specified, where as the other two had one specified. So I made the rock mat diffuse color 1 1 1, and they were back to normal.

So my question is this... how come I installed the canyon in mods/levels, and it overwrites the rock's diffuse colors for all maps? All official maps now have red rocks. Since they are all set from the same materials.cs, and the official rock have no diffuse specified. I cleared the cache, deleted the canyon, and still, it's there somehow.

    Any clues?

I don't wanna go inside each official zips and add the diffuse colors to the rocks so they turns back normal, something else is wrong?

Wouahh! Nice demarche! Effectively I have discovered Beam in november and I have discovered that beam is an alpha too! :p the hierarchy of files seemed me more obscure and now even... I spent a lot of time trying to understand how to save anything in a map, well I made canyon two time to do a more or less clean zip! there are two kinds of files : your files maked by you and beam files; when you modify beam files sometime it modify all levels  I have done some test on beam files and red rock is one, sorry for inconvenience...

The solution : delete rocks folder in canyon/shapes/( it is not use in canyon) and delete all levels cache in documents. Maybe it work ???

Verified all files is very trying. I work now on a new version more clean and I continued learning of Torque 3D :)

And thank a lot for compliment but modelised is a part of my work, I concept and realise wood framework and habitue to use 3d software and seeing proportion of things And I practice mountain bike downhill since a long time well it done canyon (in part)...

Looks great and very happy to hear about groundmodel fixes too :) One suggestion, perhaps add some gravel texture to the shoulder of the roads. Usually there is some "roadbase" and not just a straight transition from pavement to dirt.

ONE thing i've noticed, the physics doesn't really work quite right on the guard rails. If you hit them your car "grabs" onto them and will sometimes go through them. What did you use to make those meshes? because i had the same problem with meshes i made in sketchup and i found a fix for them.

Does the game crash when you start it, or does it crash when you start the map?

I noted, the road is not bad but not ideal that's true, the work is all time perfectible and this map is only the first juice remember...:)

The guard rail is a mesh roads! ;) (with small setting) it is very fast to adjust it... I noted that it grabs but I have mofified some proportion and now it didn't grabs I don't know why... Look

screen45.jpg and I update it with grey poles.

Did you notice you made a typo on step 2? you put in canyo n_of_speed instead of canyon_of_speed. I know its a small thing, but i am perfectionist so i see all the details :3 pls dont hate :3
