Update Speculation thread

The Percheron is a draft horse. So it makes a lot of sense to be used as a name for a truck. And for the crown "teaser", it makes also sense because the Percheron is globally recognized for the air of nobility and elegance it exudes. (Thanks to wiki)

Also, I wonder if the update's gonna drop today. We've had updates around this time every year for the past four years (0.26 (19th), 0.30 (20th), 0.33 (18th), 0.37 (16th)). Usually, when we see a new vehicle fully in-game, the next update comes out 1-3 days afterwards:

-HT-55/WL-40: 7 Dec 2025 (3 days before 0.38)
-Nine: 9 Dec 2024 (1 day before 0.34)
-MD-Series: 10 Sept 2024 (8 days before 0.33, but there were a couple last teasers before 0.33 - including one on the 17th)
-Aurata: 19 Sept 2023 (1 day before 0.30)

And lately, update teaser windows have been around a month and a half, if not less:

-0.34's was between 29 Oct and 9 Dec 2024
-0.35's was between 11 Feb and 27 Mar 2025
-0.36's was between 27 May and 10 Jun 2025
-0.37's was between 4 Aug and 12 Sept 2025
-0.38's was between 20 Nov and 7 Dec 2025
-0.39...was special

0.40's first teaser was on the 5th of August, and that was about a month and a half ago. The devs have only been releasing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays since 0.32, so if they were to release the update in time for World Children's Day, today would be the day to do that. I'm not saying it's a guarantee - it's only been 49 days since 0.39, which is a shorter period than any update since 0.24.1. It's also a shorter gap between major updates than the current shortest major-version gap (0.14 -> 0.15, 51 days), almost 8 years ago. We bring up the K- and I-Series quite a bit, and the gap between their updates was also 49 days - and that was considered long for the period.

There's quite a lot of evidence to say that the devs would release the update today, but I wouldn't blame people for thinking that 0.40 won't come out until December.

 

Could be, really. Based on teasers, the semi looks done (at least the exterior), and we know that the car crusher has been around for a while, as well as DLSS

 

I think that December would be far-fetched for this update, since (as you pointed out) that would be a very long time between the full reveal of a vehicle and its ingame entry, way longer than the 3+ weeks of the Ardente. A December PS5 launch would also mean competing for mainstream attention with GTA VI.

Likely the extended delay of 0.39 meant that the vehicle team switched to working on the EU semi while they were waiting for the game engine and UI improvements to be ready to launch. This week or next seems like a good bet for 0.40.

 

It could be an I5 if it's a Cherrier or a new Swedish brand. Cherrier use I5s in the Ardente and Vivace, and Scania use the DC9 I5 in their trucks and buses. I'm not sure if it's certain, but it would make sense, especially if it is a Cherrier as they don't have an I6 model in the game currently.

 

I think BeamNG and GTA VI are too different for the gamers who want to make a choice. One side we have GTA VI which has an arcade-semi-simulation in driving, and on the otherside we have BeamNG which is a pure driving simulator with detailed crashes.
Because of that, I don't think BeamNG will be left aside when GTA VI will come out. At the same time, we have three type of gamer here : the gamers who will purchase GTA VI, the gamers for BeamNG, and the gamers who love both GTA VI and BeamNG.

 

I guarantee most people who play beamng, especially on PS5 will also play GTA 6, and that most will choose playing GTA in November, December then BeamNG. That includes me. Fuck, I am waking up at 1am before school to play, then taking the day off work to play GTA on the 19th

 

Yeah, I doubt it lol. The update and PS5 console port will most likely release between late September-mid October since GTA 6 will release in mid November and the main hype will be focused on GTA 6 instead of BeamNG and other games overall.

Might be a bit off-topic, but I think GTA 6 will most likely cause many YouTubers to blow up in subs, lol. I think it'll mostly target YouTubers who play a lot of GTA 5 and stuff related to it (such as Jelly and LazarBeam)...

 

Its only been around a month and a half since the last update. I don't think we'd go from a 7 month to an under 2 month wait for updates. I'm sure 0.40 will release closer to the regular update schedule, or maybe a bit earlier than that.

Um... Hey everyone. I think you've already seen the new vehicle prediction picture my friend posted for me. Recently, BeamNG dropped a few new teaser pics, and it made me rethink how this car should be. So I drew a new one. I tweaked a few parts of the design and made the lines smoother, so it looks more modern.

At this point, I feel like this car is closer to the Renault T series than the older Renault Premium. It clearly looks a bit bigger, too. Plus, the Renault T fits the positioning we know so far better: more chassis configs, more use cases, and a straight-six overhead-cam diesel.

Stenak is a cool dude, though. Imma buy him a round of tapas or some of that fancy ham if I ever make it out to Spain one day...

 

Did you get it to work with triple screens?

 

Not just detailed crashes, I'd say "detailed everything" (or almost everything)!
I like GTA but, tbh, I absolutely hate the way it's been going for the past few years, with all those passes and RPs and such. Then again, I'm 32, so I may be a bit too old for this shit already! Idk!

I'm worried about something different though: before the "Shhh! We're being sneaky!" teaser came out, the YT channel had 422k subs and, after it came out, it now has 420k (ha)! If this means that the audience of BeamNG is being cleared of those who were subbed just for watching all those terrible trashy Shorts we've been drowning in lately, then that's good. But it still is a small blow to its popularity.

The past year ok, is obvious because I remember it gaining about 75k subs (and the graph confirms me). But Idk... Only me seeing the subs getting reduced makes no sense.

Update: it got to 422k again. It must've been a glitch indeed.

 

Hmm. It’s odd how BeamNG got 11 million views within a day, and the it says BeamNG is losing subs, when it clearly isn’t (their channel says 422K subs on YouTube, still)? It might be a SocialBlade glitch, but idk…

 

I might sound like an idiot, but wich functionnality in-game do you think we could have for the 0.40 except the shredder trailer ?
