VERSION 1.3 OUT NOW! READ THE CAPTION USE VULCAN MODE OR IT WILL NOT WORK (Start Game with Vulcan Renderer) First Time Loading can last up to 10min.(or longer), be patient and dont click on the Loading Screen while it loads, even if it seems freezed. If your PC lacks of RAM, you will most likely experience major performance issues on this map. I´ll not work on Performance Optimization anymore. I don´t know much about LOD´s and my Buildings dont have Collision Mesh. My Specs: Processor: 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-11900KF @ 3.50GHz (3.50 GHz) RAM: 32,0 GB VRAM: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti (16 GB) KLICK HERE ↓ ↓ ↓ Spoiler: English Caption Sangerhausen, Sachsen-Anhalt Germany Welcome to Sangerhausen, a map based on my hometown in central Germany. This is my very first map project and my attempt to recreate the main roads and recognizable parts of Sangerhausen in BeamNG.drive as accurately as possible. The map mainly focuses on the city itself and its major roads, including many specific locations, shops, landmarks, and other details based on their real-life counterparts. The map was created at a 1:1 scale using LiDAR scan data imported as GLTF, together with the BeamNG Mapping Tool. I have always wanted to drive on proper German maps, but unfortunately there are very few of them, both in BeamNG and in games in general. I followed the German Roads thread for a long time, but after waiting for quite a while, I eventually realized that I would have to take matters into my own hands. A huge thank you goes to Sascha Kleinwächter. His YouTube channel is full of helpful tutorials, and without his tools, creating this map would not have been possible. Around 95% of the buildings were created specifically for this map, including many smaller details such as signs, speed cameras (they flash like in German Traffic Law -> everything above 55km/h), graffiti, and the local bus stops. Please keep in mind that this was also my first experience with BeamNG mapping. Because of that, some roads and road markings are incomplete, inaccurate, or simply do not look particularly good. The AI traffic is also far from perfect. Some road definitions and directions are incorrect, and AI vehicles may behave strangely or drive far too fast in certain parts of the city. Sangerhausen is a very large and demanding map with a huge number of buildings, objects, and vegetation. Significant FPS drops may occur, especially in densely built-up areas or when looking towards the city center. A powerful PC is strongly recommended, and at least 16 GB of VRAM is recommended for the best experience. The mod itself is also quite large due to the amount of custom content included. Despite the remaining issues, I decided to release the map after putting an enormous amount of time into it rather than leaving my first mapping project unfinished. Modding & Improvements If you have experience with BeamNG mapping and would like to fix, optimize, or improve the map, you are more than welcome to do so. You are also welcome to use the buildings and other custom assets I created for Sangerhausen in your own BeamNG projects and maps. You may improve the roads, AI traffic, performance, objects, or anything else and publish your own improved version. The only condition is that Sangerhausen, modified versions of the map, and any assets taken from this project must remain completely free. Please do not sell the map or its assets, and do not distribute improved versions behind a paywall. Since the latest update, I have been struggling with significant performance issues. Even shortly before the update, there were already severe FPS drops in many areas of the map, and these problems have since become even more noticeable. For this reason, I have decided to stop actively working on the project for the time being. I would have loved to add significantly more content and make the map even more realistic and detailed, but with the current performance issues, I no longer feel that this is realistically achievable for me. If anyone here has good experience with BeamNG mapping, map building, performance optimization, or similar topics and knows how the performance of this map could be improved, I would greatly appreciate any help. At this point, I have reached both my technical and time-related limits, and I simply do not have the necessary knowledge to properly identify and optimize the underlying performance issues. That is why I am now specifically looking for help from experienced people who may have a better understanding of what could be improved and where the biggest performance problems might be coming from. I dont have the Time to rebuild everything with LOD´s and Collision Mesh. Maybe there are People who want to support and help me with that. This is also one of the main reasons why I decided to release the project here on the forum. From my side, everyone is welcome to continue developing, improving, or expanding the map. Have fun exploring Sangerhausen! INSTALLATION Place the ZIP file into your BeamNG Mods folder: C:\Users\...\AppData\Local\BeamNG\BeamNG.drive\current\mods If you experience problems after playing for a while, clear the BeamNG cache and restart the game. Have fun exploring Sangerhausen! Please contact me first if you want to edit the Map. With version 1.3, I addet some new very detailled Buildings to give the City its Real Life Charme. There are several Spawning Points and other Surprises now. I only play with parked Cars not with Traffic The map was created at a 1:1 scale using LiDAR scan data imported as GLTF, together with the BeamNG Mapping Tool. I hope you enjoy the map, its on Modfire since the File is too big for the Forum. Newest Version 1.3 (28.09.26) https://modsfire.com/m4CLCjT862a761Y BTW: The weird looking Mountain “Hohe Linde,” locally known as the Schachthalde, is a roughly 144-metre-high artificial hill. Built from waste rock from the former Thomas Müntzer copper mine, its distinctive cone shape is a prominent reminder of the town’s mining history.
Like i said before, on modland, its a good map, but i have a top range 16gb vram card and im getting 5 fps near the main sections of the map. Its just completely unplayable and heavily unoptimised.
thank you so much --- Post updated --- devenitly way better now with render distance 700 please make it standard on the map
Hi i really like the map, but as you already know the map is very demanding, and this probably is because you dont have lods on your Houses and other objects. this means all the houses are loaded in at the same time. spealer has a really good video on lods:. im pretty confident that this will fix the performance issues. i would also advice using colmeshes for colision because it is less demanding on the cpu. otherwise i really like the project, its looking BEAUTIFUL, Grüße aus Österreich btw. --- Post updated --- I also tested, when im looking away from the buildings im getting 140fps otherwise im getting 20fps average, so this will probably be the issue
Germany is probably fairly underrepresented in BeamNG, so it's good to see when someone rewrites that.
With version 1.1, I have made some major optimizations to the map. The visibility distance has been reduced from 25,000 to 700 meters, which has noticeably improved performance and reduced the severity of the heavy FPS drops from version 1.0. However, the map is still very demanding and FPS drops are still noticeable in certain areas. It is not suddenly running perfectly smooth, but overall performance is definitely better and the map feels more stable and playable than before. I have also reworked the collision on several buildings where it was previously possible to drive straight through them. Since many of my custom buildings still do not have dedicated collision meshes or LODs, the collision is unfortunately still not perfect on some objects. In certain cases, vehicles may still get stuck on walls. Overall, version 1.1 is a clear improvement over version 1.0 in terms of stability and performance, even though there is still room for further optimization. get it on modsfire https://modsfire.com/770M4r5RamG2FWF --- Post updated --- did it
Well I was not able to launch this map at all, it always crashes my game with different errors. You really do need 16gb vram, 12 isnt enough.
perfomance is way better now in country side after the update but in city i get like 5 fps but there is a bug where the traffic cars are no texture and only gavril d series and the ground texture is pitch black my specs my stettings are on high
i´m gonna release 1.2 very soon. I made some improvements to Parts of the Terrain, and added some new Buildings like a Cinema, a new Gas Station and some more. I blocked off some of the more open areas of the map with trees, walls and other visual barriers, so you can no longer see into large empty spaces from the road. This makes those areas feel more realistic and less like unfinished parts of the map. All in all, the Performance is on an All Time High since the Visibility was lowered to 700, but in the City Parts it remains very laggy. --- Post updated --- so is it better with lower Settings? A friend had the same Issue. Did clearing the Cache Help? --- Post updated ---
