as for the license plates, i'm afraid i can't, but i will link a mod that does it 10x better than i ever could do it.
cool, i think you might add a thing that if you have that mod it'll use it as default license plate design (tbh i tried doing that once, probably with that mod you're gonna link, but it didn't work)
Hello, and no, the progress isn't dead, it's just that there's nothing of interest to show outside of just some new paths. However, it is going rather slowly due to what i have going on in real life and also something not really related to BeamNG at all. I usually work on this map whenever i just feel bored, but i do not much on the map, which is why you don't see much progress. I want to do the easy stuff first by making all the dirt paths and roads and so on, before i can tackle heavy stuff like making assets and et cetera. I also have to say something about the game, click on the spoiler if you wanna read it, be warned that it's written poorly and some things may be questionable due to my English not being my first language or something else. Spoiler: My honest view on BeamNG as of recent I do want to comment on my very honest view on BeamNG in the past month or two as of recent. I am deeply disappointed with how much the developers care so little about the critical components of the game and how greedy the game has become, and as of very recent, the quality as well. Recent updates had been nothing but just solid content updates with very little improvements to the game engine, physics engine or just general performance optimization. And since the 0.39 update, personally for me it has gone simply worse. I don't care if they introduce things like DLSS, FSR, or any of that nonsense i don't understand that in reality improves so little i can't call it a true improvement. There's been no announcements of discounts for the game on store platforms on their discord server, no contests where people can win a free copy of the game, and constant advertisement of the PS5 version in form of teasers of a game that feels scripted or upscaled in some shape or form that barely depicts the actual version on the PS5. The recent 0.39 update had been very poor for most people and there had been barely any updates to fix most of them as of late (has been a similar problem with most previous major updates). It's been exactly 13 years since the game first came out to public early access in 2013, and still this game is in alpha stage. There hasn't been a single major improvement that most driving games, especially of realistic nature like BeamNG, have. Tire simulation? Somehow it's only being being developed now and not before. And on topic of tire simulation, this game has poor surface grip with anything on dirt, gravel or sand, they all feel awfully slippery and less grippy than it should be in real life. Most cars would've easily rolled over on grass or sand but somehow it's not the case in the game by default. Some modders figured it out by editing the core game file responsible for surface grip but it was risky most of the time. And it's been also this long for them to change something with the automatic gearboxes and give them... i don't know, some damage? They did update the manual transmission and added synchromesh damage but that's only the manuals, nothing was done to the automatics, and i can't really think it should've taken this long to do anything about it. It's simple mechanical knowledge that if it feels unrealistic to survive such abuse, it should've gotten fatal damaged already. And finally the marketing of the game. It's misleading when you say "A dynamic soft-body physics vehicle simulator capable of just about anything" when in reality it's uncapable of dealing with proper realism this game is pushing hard. This is all i've got to say about this game as of now. I will see you later with hopefully more updates on the progress whenever possible. Ciao.
I honestly agree with your statement on beam. The discord has gotten way worse, and the new mods are treating everyone like brainless idiots - a consequence of the ps5 release. Not only that, but back in 0.33 Tdev told me in a dm that there would be improvements to how the world is handled and the floating point errors. And because of what I was making (and have started again) it would have been a huge improvement. A lot of the map modding stuff has been neglected i feel. Mesh roads suck still. Its very hard to collaborate on anything in beam, and overall it feels like they are focusing more on making content and getting a ps5 release done than doing stuff for modding, or for the game engine. --- Post updated --- In fact I was banned from the beamng discord despite only having 1 previous warning. They are supposed to give 3 warns, then ban.
Beamcord usually has some random toxicity and it’s been there for a while, in fact. I also hope that the BeamNG devs will create a different repo from the PC so no AI slop in general gets added.
In fact I was banned from t issue there is that you are relying on people to either moderate every single mod and to check every file, or for the slop mod makers to say "oh yes it is ai slop" which just wont happen
