Oh OK thanks, I will see about this. Before it started running only on 5 it stopped working on 1 for a bit, then stopped working on 2 and then I think it just stopped on 3 & 4 at the same time.
Suspension is on And it's much lower than I expected it to be. It's also far more comfortable than I thought it would be, so that's cool. For some reason the right rear is much lower than the left... It was like this before because some idiot changed the left spring for a new aftermarket one(by some tuning company, thicker coils and more of them), but now it's still there with brand new springs... I just don't get it. Ok, the battery is in the right rear trunk, while on a 318, it should be in the engine bay. And E36s are MEANT to be slightly lower on the right to compensate for the drivers weight. I just don't know if both those things combined would explain this much of a difference. I'm tempted to move the battery out just to get the car to sit nicer, because it's just too low on the right in the back for my taste. However, I have a bettery switch because I don't drive the car very often, and doing turning the switch via the engine bay everytime I'm planning to not drive it for a bit is far more annoying than doing it via the trunk. There's also the fact that I went out for a first drive with my dad, who's fairly heavy, while I'm fairly light. So it might be that the left needs to settle a bit more. I hope that's not the case, cause the left side looks perfect in height, imho... EDIT: Just got a reply from BMW group on Facebook. Apparantly it's normal for it to sit this slanted, due to how the chassis is made. :/ Shame really. Looks better on the left...
Today I had significant wobble at 1000RPM: Anyone got any ideas on what could be causing this? (I iz noob)
Thanks for the advice, it did also happened in reverse but as I was poking around the engine I found that the HT leads were in the wrong order. I had bought some new ones and someone at Halfords had swapped them and hadn't put them back in the right order. They are meant to go anticlockwise 1342, and they had put them in clockwise 1234.
I refinished the side door panels on my E46 M3 a few days ago with some paint I got at AutoZone. I matches the original color surprisingly well, and only cost around $30 including sandpaper, primer, and paint. I still had quite a lot left over, and I still have to refinish the dashboard trim. The color I used is Storm Gray Metallic for anyone that wants to repeat this. Here's a helpful guide for removing interior trim: http://www.e46fanatics.com/howto/howtodetail.php?howto_id=25 I'm pleased with the results, and you can't tell the difference between this and the original. It's great if you don't want to end up spending $130 on new interior trim.
A closer inspection of the car gives me some pleasing information. Everything is rock solid aside from the passenger side rocker cover which has sprung a rather slow leak, and some impressively (Imprezively? Har har.) worn shifter bushes. The linkage itself is also suspect. NVH inside the cabin is superb. Not Euro superb though . I'm much more comfortable spending money on this 230,000 km (143,000 mi) car. Engine and transmission mounts are good. HVAC is good. Suspension is good on all four corners. CV joints are good. Wheel bearings are good. Rear diff is good. Heck, even the cruise control works. Watch and learn, Audi... Oil. Oil filter. Oil flush. Coolant flush tomorrow. The long road to recovery begins today! (imported from here) Yuck. For the unfamiliar, new engine oil resembles olive oil. Its a subaru boxer engine, there is something wrong when there isnt a rocket cover leak. Nah, they are notorious for leaky rocker covers
At least he doesn't have a shifter that flops like a Jell-o dick. Shifter bushings are going in today.
Considering he has complained of a suspect shifter linkage and knackered shifter bushings, he probably does have a shifter that flops like a jell-o dick. I also have a shifter that has a somewhat undesirable level of jellodickitus although its not too bad yet.
Mine is to the point of the passenger needs to move their left leg to get into 5th. And it feels like it's in neutral all the time. EDIT: Scratch the putting the bushings in today. It's pouring.
I bought some summer wheels yesterday, and they fit the car so perfectly. Only downside is that winter decided to come back the day after. Will get better pics in a few days when the snow is gone.
So I just got these seats out of a 318ti M-sport... Seems like they're not very common, and they sit SO nicely. Now... guess how much I paid for the pair, plus the lower part of the rear seat. (Sadly couldn't get the backrest)... Nope, you guessed too high. Only 30 euros And they're in like really good nick Btw, this is the same set of seats: http://www.ebay.de/itm/Lederausstat...main_77&fits=Platform:E36&hash=item3cd538091a HAHAHAHAHAHA my face is so smug right now
So, took center console out to get shifter bushings out, and I cleaned it. Filled with nicotine tar and just disgusting. Cleaned.
The A4's center console is held together by three bolts $50 for a WRX taillight. Beyond chuffed! (imported from here)
poor bumper. I like modern scoobies the same way I enjoy 80's Audis. Something a little special about them.
