Re: Endless Tunnel Or maybe, instead of "fixing" the guardrail....get this.... Dont crash. Problem solved! I like the guardrail of death. It makes driving at 180 with the stripped Bolide 390 absolutely terrifying
Re: Endless Tunnel And when you do crash do you want a stretched mess because of clipping? It shouldn't be a too hard fix to do anyways (also since OP refuse to give the .DAE all we can do is ask politely if he can change it).
Re: Endless Tunnel -nvermind. violated dummies post that i didnt see- ANYWAYS great map dummies. really fun blow wind in the tunnel and make your car go fast
Re: Endless Tunnel that has nothing to do with the map, rather your CPU. when the car crashed the CPU has to calculate hundreds of beams and nodes moving very rapidly from their original location in an instant. its not the map, no need to fix plz.
Re: Endless Tunnel Precisely why it's edited out. Anyways, I'm trying something with the railing right now. - - - Updated - - - What I wanted to try didn't work. However I've added a no rail version (it's in the same level, just beside the other tunnel). Also added normal maps for roads and some vents. (imported from here) Get it in the first post.
Cool map concept except for that rail thing. I wonder what's causing that? Why not using this kind of guardrail instead:
The vehicle hits the railing, and then gets caught in the holes of it, just like it would in real life. The physics need to be running in higher FPS to actually see it without stretching (aka slowmo) though. The reason for it's styling is that I've based it on what I've seen on some highway underpasses. (imported from here)
Why would I? That would just require users to load another map if they want the rail. Also it ends after about 9KM.
Would it not be better to simply make the collision box, without the holes, as a flat plane? That way cars would still interact with it but it would not result in the unrealistic glitching and stretching.
No fun in not being able to get caught in a rail . Who knew people wouldn't like a little more realism lol.
I get that it is more realistic but it leads to less realistic behaviour in the cars. I suppose either way there are downsides. Great map by the way
What less realistic example did you find? The cars act as cars, the map as a map, what is unrealistic about it?
the fact that the car stretches out and glitches when it crashes into that guardrail...have you been paying attention? thats why there is a "no rail" version now.
Cool, i Love your highway map and use it all the time while tweaking engine torque curve/transmission gearing. Unfortunately most vehicles jump the curbing along the middle and go into a pillar, no gentle slopes like EH, so not every car can be used for set it and forget it (floor gas in arcade mode, tab to other vehicle) head on collisions regardless though it looks great, runs smoothly and really portrays the sense of speed with the pillars and overhead lights. Im assigning it an "Awesome!" rating Oh just wanted to say most long underground tunnels I've seen use an elevated walkway along the side, with the railings above and only bare concrete for a car to clip. the hampton roads bridge tunnel in Virginia Beach, Holland tunnel, NYC Lincoln Tunnel, NYC East River Mountain tunnel I-77 West Virginia. SO yeah if you where ever bored one day and wanted to make like a variety pack or something that would be awesome, just a thought... hint hint,....lol
