I know this sounds pretty stupid. It probably is. I need a charger for my HP Probook 6450B. It came with a crappy Chinese 90 W charger. I am asuming that it was the proper voltage and wattage (hopefully) but it broke. I need a replacement charger and I am not sure if getting the 120 W power adapter will damage the laptop. Here are the links for the chargers I am debating over: 120 W http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-HP-...185?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item566e4dd991 90 W http://www.ebay.com/itm/Original-90...970?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4d310ee6d2 Thanks!
Current is drawn not forced. If a 50W device is connected to a 1000W power supply, that 50W device will still only receive 50W. V=IR and P=VI my friend. Middle school physics at best People still dont grasp it apparently. As long as the voltage is correct. A higher wattage power supply will not damage the laptop. An undervoltage power supply will simply not charge. Overvoltage power supply will kill the laptop. A lower wattage power supply may actually be damaged by the laptop unless it features current limiting modes (which in turn will prevent laptop from charging due to current limit modes generally decreasing voltage).
