So far I have watched the trailer three times today. The hype is real.

There's no brakes on the hype train, and I'm not thinking about leaving.

During my 80 hours of gameplay on Fallout NV, (with and without mods) completing as much as I could handle, I figured that a new Fallout with slightly beefed up graphics would be the most amazing thing ever.
Fast forward a few days when my buddy spams me on skype telling me Fallout 4 was announced, and of course I didn't believe him. That's when I watched the trailer.

I have nothing to do but fangirl loads and loads while watching the same trailer and the same adorable dog over and over again.

I don't care as much for the graphics as for the possibility of a voiced player character. That would be really awesome.

I was absolutely floored when I watched the conference, so much awesome stuff I couldn't even imagine them putting in the game. It looks like its going to be amazing.

Re-watching and dissecting the video I noticed a couple things that concern me though.

First thing is that there didn't seem to be any weapon/armor repairing. Well, there clearly is on the power armor (so it'd make sense that other items have it as well), but I didn't see a single thing that implied that weapons and other armor have any sort of condition system or that they can wear down. I always liked having the ability to fix my gear and make sure it was in working order, having items not break seems like an awful idea when they've added so much other immersive content. With the new crafting system implemented, it could make it more interesting than just repairing with similar items in the pipboy menu. Of course it could be in the game just using a different system, or I'm blind, but we'll have to wait and see. Though hardly a deal breaker, it's something I'd miss. They did the same thing with Skyrim and it was just something that stood out as a bad decision to me.

And the second thing is there doesn't appear to be stats any more (in the traditional way at least). By that I mean when you'd level up you would get to put points into whatever stats you want. There appeared to be no tab in the pipboy for it, and the S.P.E.C.I.A.L abilities don't mention it in their descriptions anymore. As an example, usually Intelligence would say something along the lines of the more points you have in Intelligence, the more points you'd be able to put into stats when you level up. Now it says the more intelligence you have, the more XP you gain. Also if you watch the weapon upgrading part of the video, you see that some things you craft require certain perks, one of the perks was science (it says Science level 2 or something like that), which used to be a stat. Also in the status area of the pipboy there's now a prompt to push Y for perk chart. So what I'm thinking is they went with a skyrim like system. This really doesn't bother me as I'm fine with the skyrim system. The more you use a particular stat the more it levels up. It's a decent system and it really wouldn't hurt the game if that's how it works. It would be extremely odd for them to omit stats altogether, so there has to be SOMETHING there. I'm wondering how the perks will be handled as well.

The skill system will most likely work like Skyrim, you level up your skills as you use them. I'm fine with that, as long as character levels still use general XP which you get from quests. It's pretty annoying when grinding is a more effective way of leveling up than actually playing the game.
