Reason for 'On Hold' - Due to work and college I'm not left with a massive amount of time left on my hands. Throwing myself in at the deep end and designing a car from scratch was probably not the best idea... I'm currently going to work on some smaller projects and keep doing little bits on this one but progress will be slow enough to add the 'On Hold' prefix. I do apologize to anyone looking forward to seeing this release anytime soon, but my target is to release some smaller projects such as mods of pre-existing cars and get some practice in there and release this at a later date.

Help may be required at some point :)

Behold, a fantasy car based vaguely around the Triumph Harold and Lotus Cortina
There's not a lot to see at the moment, it is a very early WIP but after experimenting a lot with Jbeams I think I may just about have enough experience to create my own car for the first time. We have a chassis and I have begun the shell. For the record GBM is not and never was a real car brand, it is a fictional brand I have created standing for Great British Motors, the 1600s part of the name relates to its displacement, the S standing for sport.

I will be adding more specifications as I progress and there may also be interchangeable, and higher performance parts including; Wheels, Brakes, Engine parts, Seats, Lightweight body panels and Aerodynamics

I seriously hope this gets finished, this game [ well at least I really need one] need a proper light rwd car.

Little update, check out the new images, I know that the model is a little dirty at the moment but it will be cleaned up once I'm happy with the shape

Thankyou, I will check that out and probably use it to get some smoother lines.

Little update on the rear of the car and begun some of the under-body of it, I've overhauled the back lights since I was finding those round ones too hard to get them nice and smooth.

Thanks for the tips and I also just added some simple materials just help show the chassis and body :)

I'm probably going to be redesigning the rear of the car again too, that being lights, license plate area and the part the bumper will be going along

Complete overhaul of the shell of the car, this does mean that the chassis is going to need redesigning though. Luckily the original chassis was only done quickly and was due to be overhauled and redesigned to fit the car and time it was built better

Well the shell is more or less coming to a finish, I think it's looking quite good and I'm liking the new shape quite a lot more, it's much smoother and prettier
Here's some pretty picies of it :)

Will the jbeam be fully custom or modified form an official car?

Can as an option add a 90 hp engine?

    Thanks.

Hate to admit it but due to lack of experience and learning as I go with this, progress will probably be quite slow but at the moment, I'm putting around 3 hours per day in. I doubt I will be able to keep that up for that long though with work and getting my motorcycle but I will try to put about 12 hours per week into it. It should be done hopefully in a month, one of the last things on my mind though is; giving up on it, so sooner or later I will have a car released along the lines of a lightweight, British RWD car of this style and era.

Yes the JBeam will most likely been made from scratch. It will probably be quite difficult but, I suppose it's more experience and will make any future cars I make easier.

I was planning on having a stock version of the car with a lower amount of horsepower and perhaps one with a modern engine around 200 or maybe even 300hp.:)

Modelling with subsurf is not a good idea (for games generally). For a nice deformation you need a 'balanced' wireframe.
Import the .DAE file of any of the official cars into Blender and you can see how an optimal wireframe would look like.
Also, your renders seems to have some issue with aspect ratio. (It looks like you are rendering in a 4:3 format but with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Okay, thank you for the help, this is why I have uploaded a bunch of screenshots this early, so at least mistakes can be spotted :)
