Super new to photography, but always wanted to give it a go. Just got pics of a few vehicles and scenery round my house. Feel free to give any pointers, as i sure need them!

Took this on the iPhone 4 I just got, pretty decent, albeit there is a lot of noise.

I got there at 9:40 and left at 11:15. I try to go earlier too, it's almost an hour drive for me. I don't have a car to bring to the show but I might be able to bring a 1990 Ford Bronco next time. What car did you bring?

I brought my Steel Gray Metallic E46 M3 'Vert there, mine was one of the only ones there if my memory is correct. The other convertible had aftermarket wheels and the 6mt, my M3 has the SMG transmission OEM 19" wheels. There's a picture of it from later that day in General Car Discussion, but didn't get a picture while at Cars and Coffee. General-Car-Discussion
I don't really like to think of C&C as a car show. It's more of a place to just meet up with enthusiasts and talk about cars. You'd have no problem bringing your Focus there.

I wouldn't park my Focus in the main parking lots. The paint is not shiny anymore and it's starting to peel off on the hood and it's probably one of the most boring cars you will see (or drive). I just can't wait to buy myself a car. I usually park in the parking garage or the gravel lot next to it. One of my friends has a fox body Mustang that's currently getting fixed. Right now I'm looking to see if I can buy myself a Porsche 944 sometime before this school year is over.

I've seen a rental-spec Dodge Avenger parked on one of the main lots, as well as countless distastefully modded cars. Just bring what you've got, I'll try to save you a spot beside my M3 if you can make it out to one.
That Focus is a pretty good daily, I'd keep it and save up towards that Porsche. You'd really need something for when the 944 is being worked on, and it's good to have a reliable daily that you don't have to worry about getting parking dings and curb rash on. I love my M3 to death, but I sometimes wish I had a reliable hatch or wagon for when I need it. But it's your choice in the end. Cheers! :)

Cant hate on a focus anyway. You drive one, then you drive another similarly priced hatch, you'll go straight back to the focus. They may seem boring, but push one to its limits, you'll be surprised at what it can do. No its no sports car, but for what it is, its an agile little beast.

Besides. Versus anything else on the roads it mostly comes down to drive skill. I've matched a porsche boxster in a 1.0 Corsa C. E90 320d, Lotus Elise, F10 M5, Mk2 Focus RS and an E Series Merc in my 2000 Focus Ghia Estate (1.8 Zetec engined). I have a thing where if someone speeds off ahead of me on a road, I will try and persue. So far the 2 cars that have been hardest for me to keep pace with? The M5 was certainly a challenge, but the number 1 toughest was a brand new Skoda Octavia VRS.

The thing is, theres all these people with their high performance cars on the road, but even those that are "pushing it" - arent. Take the porsche as one of the biggest cases, would unleash the guns on every straight but slammed the brakes on the corners, every corner was taken at a granny pace, so much of a granny pace that the time they saved being able to accelerate faster than a 1 litre corsa C is regained as the poorly handling corsa C still manages to hurtle through the bends faster than they are....

This is basically how I manage to keep pace with any car. I know the limits of my cars, I know what they will do and I am not afraid to do it. I live on a big old twisty road that I know extremely well too. As such, I know that this bend here I can fling a focus into at 65mph, the front tyres will squeel a little but it will make it around without a lane switch either, the M5 I pursued did not know this, he chained the bend through in such a way that he entered and left from the oncoming lanes (apex was in the left hand lane, this is UK, drive on the left), I'd judge his speed to be approx 50, sure enough I was right on his bumper before he gunned it again only to slow down for the next corner.
The VRS was the only change to this, it was what I would call a well driven vehicle, his corner entry and exit was slightly slower than mine, but he also has a bigger engine. It was very difficult to keep up.

Should I meet a properly driven M5, I know for fact I will be slaughtered, but I havent, its just self righteous knobs that cant actually drive their cars anywhere close to the limits.

If you cant own a fast car, then drive your slow car fast. Chances are the fast cars you encounter will be driven slow.... Turn it into driver versus driver, you'll find that alone is rewarding in itself.

Slow cars can really be fun, our weekend vehicle is a 1990 Ford Bronco. And it's slower than my Focus, but I enjoy it a lot more. One reason why I like more is because everyone else likes it. I was filling up at gas station and some guy gets out of his truck and says, "Nice Bronco!" All of my friends love it too. The first time I drove it to school I had 3 people stop and talk about it. I never really like trucks until I drove the Bronco. It looks very nice, fun to drive and you'll get compliments on it all the time. Now if we go back to the Focus, I've never really reached the limits of that. We have a roundabout that's a little more than 22m/24yd inside curb to inside curb (about same size as the one at our Cars and Coffee). I'll rip through that at 25-30MPH. That's fun, it doesn't last very long though. I go North when I leave Cars and Coffee and those roads are kinda fun even in the Focus. I was having a good time going through the corners until I got stuck behind a slow car. Acceleration on the other hand, isn't very fun. It's almost impossible to break traction (especially in a straight line), the best I've done is a little chirp from my left tire while I was turning a hard left from a standstill. My Focus is also an automatic, which makes acceleration even more boring. Over all I really do like my Focus, but I can't stand driving a car with badly messed up paint, and I've been wanting to drive a stick shift. I used to drive racecars (Quarter Midgets) from 5-14 years old.

To keep it on topic here's a picture I took in West Virginia.

I enjoy driving a vehicle that I can take to its limits on public roads and not be too dangerous or raise any eyebrows.
My dad's genesis is surprisingly boring to drive because it's so damn fast you don't ever have enough room to really open it up.

Thought I'd share a few, not all my favorites, but these are some of the better pictures that I've taken while flying about various locations in the Pacific Northwest (Washington and Idaho). The quality isn't great; my phone has seen better days. Sorry for the wings btw, they always seem to get in the way.
