I created a level in torque 3d but it will not save. I go to 'save level as" and try to save it to my game folder and it doesnt create any file, I tried to save it to dozens of other locations and it will not create any .mis file. closed and opened torque (3d BeamNG) still not working. what is going on?
Unfortunately, .mis files cannot be generated by Torque 3d, at least as BeamNG's concerned. Your best bet is to create one yourself in a text editor, usually one based on puregrid's. ...Or, used the attached file. Extract the 'myMap' folder and rename it and its content to whatever your map's name is.
It does generate the .mis it just puts it in a stupid place. Where are you making your level? if its in Documents/Beamng.drive/mods/levels/mapname then look for the .mis in Documents/beamng.drive/levels/mapname Copy or merge it back into your folder and carry on working. Just remember to periodically copy Documents/beamng.drive/levels/mapname and merge with Documents/Beamng.drive/mods/levels/mapname after doing a few changes or before packing the maps for us to try. hope this helps
I have not tried it since Direct X11 was added to be honest. I also do not make my maps in the Documents folder like you are supposed to. I work from steamapps/common/beamng.drive/levels as tons of stuff in the map editor doesn't work from the Docs folder. For me when working from here, the .mis saves in Documents/beamng.drive/levels along with other crap sprinkled around that area that needs to be merged back together periodically. I hope what you are saying is not true because that kind of sucks if its broken now. Sorry for being no help what so ever. EDIT: I was curious so I tested it myself and it does work for me. Here is a short video showing what I did.
Found the issue! the file saves where it wants to, not where you direct it. I kept trying to save it to my own folder but it saves to a default folder anyway... thanks cheers! but.. now I have a new problem, when I try to load my saved level I get this:
Be careful using spaces in file names. I don't know how sensitive Torque is to that, but it's bad practice anyway. As for your issue, the .mis file needs to be named the same as the folder within which it is located. So instead of "levels>cove_island>I don't know.mis", it should be "levels>cove_island>cove_island.mis".
