An idea that will take a lot of coding but i recommend it since most gpus work well with opengl, and you dont need to mess around with DX9 DX10 DX11 and the rest.

The only reason you'd want OpenGL is to port to Linux or OSX, and that audience is so small it's not worth the devs' time. yeah, some people want a Linux port, I use Linux so I understand, but there's so many other things that are more important.
Now talking real, how much investment is needed for it to happen USD 10k, 100k, ? On a future I may have the opportunity to bring an investment without interests, to make a port its possible with this way or the team would still not in the mood of OpenGL
