The most telling part to me is that not a single window has popped or cracked, meaning that absolutely nothing has happened to the shape of the window frames. Impressive.

Its pretty much standard for all decent modern cars. If you look at the Euro ncap test in the frontal overlap test they all seem to do similarly. Although some older cars dont do quite as well. If you want to see some textbook crashes (under the 2015 standards) then volvo have done the best. Im subscribed to Euro ncap on YouTube so every new crash test video gets put in my sub box for me to watch along side the usual YouTube stuff. But most brands of car seem to do pretty well too. The mazda 2 "only" got a 4 star rating and its passenger compartment and windows were fine too. But of course it all depends on the speed of the incident, what the overlap on the indecent was and so on.
I don't see anything too bad in that for a 1997 model. The roofline comes away from the window and juts forward, but nothing seems to fall in or crush into the cabin area. I might just be misinformed but it looks pretty decent for such an old car.

Its also possible that if there is any rust in it or other degradation then the true result today may be a little bit worse. But as you said for that day and age it was pretty good. Hey, you have airbags, ABS, TCS, or even halfway working seatbelts. My auto tracks have quit and that's nice, and also if I wreck with it, it may come off the tracks and cut my head off, as stated by a NHTSA complaint. Don't you love the apparent safety of early 90's cheap American shitboxes?

It was pretty good for its time, but compared to modern cars? Hmm. In the offset, the A-pillar collapsing so much indicates that the cabin footwell and firewall is pushed back significantly, providing a crush hazard for little toes and feetsies, and likely ruining your knee and femur if your leg is locked straight on impact. Looking at the passenger side, you can see the front and rear doors move apart slightly at the B-pillar, suggesting the deformation of the driver side cabin is so extensive, that there's a tension applied to the passenger side. Neither front door would be able to open. There's also a support bracket for the steering column behind some plastic cladding that has a habit of demolishing the driver's right knee in these sorts of impacts. On the plus side, the Audi scored very low for pedestrian impacts, causing something along the lines of "excessive and unnecessary injury". Airbags, seat belts, and ABS, yes. TCS? Nay. How did your car get into that state? How does it pass inspection? That's properly dangerous. Sell whatever you have and buy a $200 Impreza off Craigslist. It'll be great. Trust me.

Car crashes are cool and all, but someone help me out here. Im getting no fire at the plugs. plug wires are good, coil is definitely hitting as it nearly shot me across the garage trying to test it, and the plugs are new. Id guessed the electronic ignition unit inside the distributor was to blame but alas it has the same problem with the 2 older distributors i have as well. Any further suggestions before i bite the bullet and buy new everything? I ought to mention its a mid 70's small block chevy block but everything is from a recent rebuild.
Are you watching a spark plug that's out of the engine? or is it just not running? If it won't run, are you sure its close enough to time? if its too far out it won't fire at all.
