I hate seeing mods like these ending up on russian sites, especially when they dont credit the original creator. I really hate it when Russians upload mods here saying they made a mod and blatantly didn't! Awesome mod though! Had loads of fun with it last night!
I've been playing with torque curves and the transmission for this thing. I've currently got the GM 3L80 3-speed in it and it produces 470 lb-ft (or Nm??? what ever is in the jbeam file) of torque. It tops out at about 55, it'll do 60-70 going down a hill.
Damn, this is extremely spot on! Nice model I love Breaking Bad it is my favorite TV Show aside Dukes and Knight Rider!
Did even more tweaking, power comes on at about 2000 RPM and stays until about 3250. I was able to get it up to 61 MPH on the grid test map, possibly higher if tested on pure grid. Below is the enclosed engine jbeam for anyone who wants it. To recap: GM 3L80 Transmission, redone torque curve, new redline of 5400 RPM, with shift point at 4400 RPM.
I looked into the 454 a bit. It seems RV's got a slightly higher performance version of the 454 than the standard trucks. Even then the stock 1986 454 made 508nm of torque at 3200 and peak horsepower at 3800 with 240hp. That seems a little suspicious to me too have such a huge drop in power in only 600rpm. I imagine this engine was putting out around 265hp @ 3850rpm. With that, rear gears set to 4.10, Turbo-400, 0-60 was 31.5 with a top speed of around 72mph. It comfortable cruises at 55mph (national speed limit at the time this was built).
Another thing, How do you have it weighted currently? It feels like it's supposed to be complete, and around 12-14k. Gutted I would assume its weight to be around 4500-5500 lbs, About the same as a half ton 2wd pickup. So with a 454 it should be able to scamper about fairly well.
This thing is wicked! i love trying out some custom power plant options. The stock 454 does a good job but i built a motor that makes around 620nm and it hauls well. Top speed 82mph, makes enough power to pull it around with a covet in back. Any more power to it and it has some violent wheel hop. I'd imagine this thing was never built for alot of power anyways, so far the jbeam is outstanding though! I believe a little more height and stiffness in the rear end to compensate for the weight of the rv would help some. With the covet on board the rear end is a bit floaty. I was estimating that would be the gross weight it would gain with it loaded down.
Can't wait for the release of this, maybe some people ( including me) might build other RV's off of this ones jbeam and structure?
i think you should put at least two different engines int it, a stock one and a tuned one, or even two stock ones one named 454 and one named 454 modified so we the mod user can do anything we want to the 454 modified engine, aka make it pull wheelies with a 7 second quarter mile.
That would take you 2 minutes to do, just copy the whole engine jbeam, paste it, rename tweak and done.
also is clutch slip a thing in beam? like when a clutch is over loaded with power it will slip. my 100mph motor home has the issue if you neutral slam it. also noticed the same issue with the toyota prerunner mod. those could oth be bugs with programming the mod it self as well, or my debauchery that is an engine and trans code
I don't think Mythbuster would want to ruin a 29-year-old RV by putting off-road equipment on it . By that logic, Mythbuster's answer will be an automatic NO. Mythbuster will never even want to ruin a perfectly fine-looking RV from the mid '80s.
in beam they do? how do i fix that? just want to know for the sake of a reliable drive when i try and hit 100 with the rv (made a 100mph tuned engine for her) also sixsixsevenseven, your avatar is the most amazing thing on the forums
