So, I have downloaded the update. First thing I did was play with the SBR4. It didn't really add up to what people were so hyped about, I think it should have more power. It only tops out at like, 160-165. Which is kindof boring compared to what was advertised. The grip of the car is also a bit weird. And the suspension is also too soft. I think those could be the improvements, plus a different bumper and rear bumper, and a spoiler. Thats all. Great job with 4.2 guys!!

Its top speed is around 186 MPH, which is around what an older Nissan GTR can do. The gearing is designed for crazy fast acceleration, and it does 0-60 in around 3 seconds, so it's plenty fast. It handles a bit weird, although Gabe said the swaybars weren't properly configured and he has fixed it for the next update. Either way it's by far the fastest (track) car in BeamNG, and probably will be forever. Also it already has a spoiler.

EDIT: I'm not sure how I got 186, it can't break 160, I suppose the wing doesn't help the top speed but that seems a little low.

No, there is nothing wrong with the SBR4, it's a blast to drive. Do you have a wheel?

Honestly, the SBR was a pleasant surprise with how easy it is to drive, but ultimately, I find the Civetta Bolide more fun to drive. The SBR4 has easier handling with lots of understeer which makes safer. Although the SBR4 only has the upper hand in terms of acceleration in a straight line at very low speeds, while it's an even match up to very high speeds where the Bolide leaves it behind. I suppose it is indeed faster on a circuit due to how the car handles, but I haven't tested it yet.

What really impressed me is the drag version of the Moonhawk with its supercharger, which is not only there to show off. The acceleration is simply insane with this beast!

In conclusion; the SBR4 isn't the messiah some may have expected, but it remains an excellent addition to the game.

I still prefer the Bolide for hot laps. The only way this car wins is stability, but that's where it also loses. You have so much grip you understeer!

Speed: What variant you used? The top-tier can easily top 280-300KMH on straight road. From what I've driven, the SBR4 strongpoint seems to be acceleration rather than top speeds. Try the 'High Speed' scenario, see how it feels to drive with that car at full throttle on those roads.

Grip: Define weird. SBR4 is equipped with RWD and AWD variants, aswell TCS and ESP (IIRC). It's a concentrate of Japanese Technology set up to guarantee a smooth ride. You can disable those Electronics from the parts menu and try to drive without them.
I find it funny. The Civetta Bolide has no TCS/ESP/Whatever because '80 car, and people say it drives on ice. This is equipped with everything because Modern Racecar-wannabe and already 2 people are saying it drive 'too well'.

I have trouble passing 272 km/h on the AWD Twin Turbo stage 2 with Manual transmission (DCT was hard to get past 269 km/h).

It's like reloading a gun in Halo versus reloading a gun in Receiver. In one it's a bit of a timing challenge, in the other, it's a full self-contained experience. Ease and convenience is the enemy of challenge and satisfaction.

To be fair, one of those two people claims to like the way the Bolide drives. You can't please everyone, but one out of two ain't bad.

i like the car quite a bit, my only disappoint is that it has quite bad understeer in the AWD config, it handles amazing with quick steering, but if you go just a little too fast it will have massive understeer! and you will be saying hello to the trees :)

The understeering is a major problem with this car. It is even worse in back wheel drive cause of no weight at the front. Someone should really make a front wheel drive version of this. I have also tried it offroad on Ultimate Test Terrain. This car is unstoppable in the mud with AWD config.

Everybody has a good point here. I can only top it out at 161 MPH on a flat straight on gridmap outside of the entire map with the AWD TT S2. When I have it stripped I can reach 181 with manual and 186 with the 7 speed dual clutch. The understeer is astounding, and I can't seem to go around a turn at ehh...Maybe 40mph on IroHazaka2 without crashing. And with that spoiler thing, I forget who said that, Yeah, it does have a spoiler. But maybe we could get a tall-spoiler with the ESS locked down, or something? I think that would be cool. And to that other person who asked if I had a wheel? No, I don't. Don't got enough money for one...I have a keyboard though. But I can usually tap the right or left key to get a really smooth turn, and that works.

I can assure you that it doesn't. It's perfectly drivable on a controller, and even more so on a wheel-and-pedal setup. When you tap the keys to steer, it forces the wheel to turn in and straighten out repeatedly, which unsettles the car as the weight is shifted all over the place.

Take yourself to an empty parking lot in the evening and try steering your car (at a safe speed!!!) as you would in BeamNG. I'll guarantee you that steering with a smooth, controlled input is far superior to mashing the wheel one way and straightening it out several times.

The car understeers badly when I'm coasting through a corner. Imagine a D15 with grippier tires and no ability to flip in corners, this is it.

Also make sure to let go of the throttle in turns with the AWD variants, going full throttle while expecting forces of over 1G won't work out...

A car can only maintain so much lateral force in a turn. If you keep turning the front tires well beyond the ideal slip angle for that amount of lateral force, it will be understeering, especially with ESC/TCS keeping the car from an unstable situation. There is no way around it, and it is realistic for such a car. Don't turn the wheel too far, and it won't plow. The old BeamNG tires had peak grip at too high of a slip angle, so the car would just hang the tail out more and more as more steering input was applied. This was totally wrong, and now rectified. The result is that finer control is required to stay in the ideal range of steering.

With a controller or wheel I think the car is great fun and practically drives itself with all the gizmos. But if you aren't subtle with the control and always pushing the front tires, it of course is not going to be much fun.

Why does traction control make it act as if it doesnt have steering though?

ASM/ESP will always favour understeer, so when you're barreling into a corner at waytoofast per hour, it'll apply a braking force to the outside wheels to stop the rear from overtaking the front. Drive at a suitable speed for the corner and you'll find that the SBR4 is incredibly well balanced.
