I'm reviving my jetta project with more experience in modelling. Here's some stuff I got so far. If you have any suggestions or advices just leave them here. ~
The Volksfagen was cool, but its time to have a proper Jetta . I sincerely hope this project won't go dead...
Oh, you have not heard of that. There is something wrong with the new Volkswagen cars. There is something wrong with the engines. New Volkswagens are illegal in America.
Yes, I know I don't have any chances to make my model even as good as the perfect in every inch volksfagen... But I need to make a version for myself, because volksfagen makes my motherboard explode and I'm desperate to drive a Jetta in beamNG. - - - Updated - - - What does it have to do with me modelling an old car for a game?
[SUP]wrong wrong wrong. [/SUP]they are not illegal. They are on constraint from the manufacturer till the emissions scandal is worked out and the cars are "fixed", if they were illegal, they would not be allowed on the roads...and there are probably 1 Million diesels on the road right now.
Heres the jist of it. VW diesel engines (also by extension, audi, skoda and seat) have been found to have a special mode in the engine management unit that detects when the engine is being emissions tested and will switch to a richer fuel map that causes lower NOx levels to be detected. This is illegal, upto 11 million cars will have to be recalled for this and be reprogrammed to not have this mode. Sadly the mode the engine usually runs in also does not meet emissions tests so they are all going to have to be remapped to meet standards, sadly this will decrease torque across the full power band and also partially ruin the fuel economy. Right now VW may be fined upto $35000 per car sold in the US alone. They are also facing action in the EU (as it has emerged that in the UK alone there are 1189906 dodgy vehicles). These are just from the governing bodies alone. They are also facing lawsuits from consumers due to how the car is being sold as lets say 150hp when post recall it will only have 130 etc. VW Cars themselves are not outlawed. It is just pending action on their diesels. Combined with even more recent studies on some previously unknown toxic emissions from diesel engines, we might be seeing their last days, at least in consumer cars. Saddening.
Sorry for not posting for a long time. I have school and stuff that's more important for me. For now, here's some progress ~
