I am a very amateur modeler, as you can see from the crappy model below. This is more so a learning experience, as this will be the first BeamNG vehicle I've ever made. Expect me to make many newbie errors. Please give criticism on the model, as I will not learn anything from you falsely saying "Oh yeah, that's really good" when it isn't. Okay, so now that ordeal is out of the way, I am making a CJ-7. I have one in real life, so don't waste your time scouring the entire internet for reference pictures because I will have all the reference I will ever need. P.S. I have ZERO JBeam knowledge. This vehicle will take forever to make. the mesh topology is a nightmare. it would make gabester cry. View attachment 77497
Nah, The normals are facing outward. Just bad topology I need to fix. - - - Updated - - - blender's crappy real-time shading engine annoys me to no end sometimes. (before you reply, i recalculated normals like 5 times stoopid)
Thanks for the motivation. I love this community. <3 - - - Updated - - - Final Update for the night. Just added Floorboard:
I have 2 CJ-7's myself if you need any references to them, but since you have one I guess I'm not needed, lol.
It isn't Blender's fault, like you said its the bad topology. Try adding edge split. (imported from here)
Nice! Two people doing different models of jeep! More jeeps the better I say. I don't use blender to do the modeling in so I cant really help with blender errors
The Topology is a bit repaired, as well as recalculating normals a few more times. There's no more black spots on the hood, but the body is a different story. The poly flow on the floor board is terrible, and I'm thinking about redoing the whole thing. - - - Updated - - - I'm thinking of entirely redoing this model in 3DS max. Don't worry, I wasn't too far with the model progress. To be honest, I think 3DS Max is a whole lot better than blender. The only reason I was using blender was because UV mapping is a whole lot easier. I think that the model would look a whole lot better in 3DS max. If you all really want me to, I will continue this model in Blender.
Its all the same once you get familiar and comfortable with the program. You just gotta practice, good luck.
I have quite a bit of prior experience with 3DS max, more so than blender. I just really hate the way UV mapping is handled in Max.
Bad news everyone, my computer crashed. I've been absent for a while because my computer decided to explode and not work anymore. I am awaiting for new parts to come, and in the meantime, I can't play beamng because all I have now is a craptop. This project is going to be put on hold for now.
I'm back finally. So sorry. I was looking through my old hard drive and found the original model! I'll be working on this again.
Any way that I can match the edges with the contours of the wheel arch? I need to add more edges without ruining the poly flow.
