Forum changes

I agree with having the old setup with dedicated thread pictures, the threads made more sense with relevant pictures as opposed to profile pictures for the OP. The forum is still under construction so judgement is a bit pre-mature at this point, but I'd like to throw my hat in for a dark theme (or really anything else to better isolate separate posts, as the whole page kinda blurs together with this color scheme), and the ability to change the top bar. I'd also prefer to have the "comment-on-page-numbers" removed from next to the search bar, as they don't really seem to add any usable functionality. Kinda bummed all the "thanks" got wiped too. Loving the ability to jump to unread posts though. I have to ask, why did you guys change servers? The old one was quite nice in my opinion.

 

HEADS UP EVERYONE. Now if you have a user ignored their posts will totally disappear. You won't see them in quotes or anywhere else, so if you were just kinda ignoring someone you may want to turn it off.

 

I can't say I like the new UI, it's kinda messy. but I can get used to it. There is something i want back, I used to view my profile frequently as a feed of what people I've befriended are saying. SO i used that feature to keep up with modders and developers. I have to say, I'd love that to not be hidden behind an extra click.

My thoughts on the website so far in detail.

Live updates! As I type this I saw the green bar go orange and I got the notifaction saying someone has just replied to this thread as I'm on it.

Notifation bar! Very helpful! when Bubble quoted me in the off topic thread, I got a notifaction about it, great for people who isn't active on the website and want to know when they have been interacted with.

The Forum... yucky! Too many clicks! Before when I loaded the first page on Beamng.com it would take me 2 click to get a thread with a latest reply. (For example, Forums > Scroll down > Click on users name that has just replied to a thread, like off topic since that's the most popular)

Expand Signature! I think this should be an option over a change everyone has to deal with, the transparent fade is annoying when looking at posts as it catches my eye, and it cuts off information, either have an option to turn that off or leave it always expanded, but have a size limit (Where it just cuts off like on the old website)

GIFS! BROKEN! That's why I've finally updated to my main logo over my familiar "Blah Blah" avatar, symbolizing that I usually talk out of my ass.

Profile Customization! Where has it gone? or am I just blind and can't find it? if it isn't there, I'd like to see custom backgrounds (but I can see that going wrong) and be able to show off screenshots, additional information, have a banner, etc.

Reply's! There are positives and negatives for this. The random reply number thingy up near the search bar, I like this. The text in reply's are defaulted to a size one too small for me, bring them up one. The color tilt (Different shades of white) is too thin, it hurts my eyes with the slight shades of white around posts and it makes my eyes start to flicker after awhile.

Those are my 2 cents, will add more later, I will say what you could do to fix later as I need to come up with that idea too XD

I love this new look. Gives the site a nice clean feel to it. Great job setting it up.

I think there should me more banners for users, we have BeamNG testers, members, well known members, moderators and then the dev team, I think we should get things like "Likes To Talk" as a milestone for 300 posts, or "Beta Testing For 3 Years" as a goal for being a tester for that long.

Rewarding people for being active on the website encourages other people to be more active on the website!

It's not the same orange as the logo tho. I think it should match. Or we should be able to change the colors like we can in the game.

 

Final impressions: forum is fine now, for the most part. Just gonna require some getting used to. Only remaining thing is to OBLITERATE THE SATANIC DEATH SMILEYS.

 

Would have preferred a repository but I can live with it I guess.

 

TBH, I'm really liking the new forum the only big thing that annoys me is the blinking online thing, it's so distracting. Also there are two bars at the top, where there only needs to be one (can be combined) also I like those arrow things in the bottom right corner, is there a way to enable them all the time, even when at the top or bottom of the page in settings?

I'll just use this as a smiley now :Ḋ

I really don't like the new format. Old one was much better. The looks I like though

 

They look like the kind of smileys you would get from one of those SuperSmileyToolbar! things that sneak themselves onto your computer when you don't pay attention to the license agreements.

 

Is having several screenshot size options still possible?

 

There's a bug with thread names. Threads starting with a number redirect to that thread number, for example this: http://www.beamng.com/threads/1949-cadillac-series-62-convertible.437/ redirects to thread #1949.

Some Threads don't get properly directed. I clicked on my datsun 510 thread and it directed me to another thread

It'll take some time to get used to but I love the way you can tell people online.

Also Mythbusters RV thread is completely broken on default style will test on ulx because the thread takes me to other threads.
