I have a desktop with an AMD FX 8350 and an R9 380 with 16 GB of ram. I was playing the game a few days ago and it ran at 60+ fps with zero lag. Now, whenever I try to accelerate, the game freezes for about 15 sec and then keeps running fine until I press the accelerator again.

Thats a good setup you have there have you tried turning post processing off....sometimes that MURDERS your CPU....but idk it could be that it could be something else....

Unfortunately, post processing is off and graphics are at the lowest settings.

Post FX do not damage or even touch the CPU really... maybe a few small chunks of extra info to the GPU at best...

the fact is that GPUs need CPUs to be relaxed and readily available to allow the GPU to get full utilization.. the CPU being under extreme load can cause setups to fail.

    My
    I5-3570K @ 4.3GHZ
    GTX 770 EVGA
    16GB DDR3

PC even has issues with running the game well... as my CPU often limits the GPU to a lower than 60% usage state...

This than causes the game to run poorly, sometimes on more intense maps you'll see an even lower GPU usage which makes the map run worse stacking on top of the evident intensity of the map in the first place.

AMD CPUs are not well suited for the calculations in BeamNG's physics however, so in turn do to architecture you'll see the CPU struggles to provide a playable experience compared to Intel...

Now on topic to the Original Poster [OP]

Heard of this issue, usually happens on potatoes, never heard of it happening on a mid-high end gaming rig before.

Never learned the cause of this issue /= sorry I could not help.

So it turns out that the odd issue I was having seems to be because I was using a DVI to VGA cable. I switched to my HDMI output and everything ran buttery smooth.

Thanks for all your input, Slayersen and RobertGracie.

Well DVI-VGA is a signal converting from analog to digital, that could potentially cause issue I guess.

DVI to HDMI and DVI to DVI are both purely digital signals.

Ahh I see your removing the conversion stage and that would mean a cleaner signal interesting....

DVI-I outputs in digital and analog. DVI-A outputs analog only. DVI-D outputs digital only.
You can use a VGA adapter on DVI-I or DVI-A with no active conversion. :)
