I am just curious as to whether or not my fellow BeamNG.drive players have played Fallout 4 and what their thoughts on it are. Is it as bad as the Steam community claims or is it actually worth $60? Personally from what I have seen, the beginning seems very rushed. I would have like to have seen more of the prewar era Fallout universe. Can someone say if the story is any good, i.e. does it give you choices or is it pretty linear? Without spoiling it that is. I'm still on the fence as to whether or not I should purchase it myself. Please share your thoughts. Also does it run decently and if it does could you please list your specifications if they are not in your personal quote section?

If your computer can run it you certainly won't be bored by it. It really depends on whether or not you think a week or so of playing it almost nonstop is worth $60. It doesn't feel exactly like 3 or NV, but it does take after Skyrim pretty well. The gun-play is close to dedicated shooter quality, the base-building is simultaneously extensive and limited (why can't we build walls that aren't full of holes?), and the RPG elements are there in force. I haven't seen anything that I would consider a downgrade from the previous games, aside from the current lack of mods and somewhat buggy build (Its a Bethesda game, what do you expect).

I will say that if you are really interested in the story you will inevitably get some part of it spoiled for you if you wait until the price goes down, so you have that to weigh out as well.

But the burnside should have custom parts like a rusty livery and faded white walls with rusty rims as a tribute for fallout that would be awesome

From all the negative comments in steam only one was good and actually said something worth it, the rest is just people wining.

I can't say anything about the story since i didn't finish the game..
But since i put 18.5 hours in it here's what i can give you:
-The new perk system is good, it actually makes you take your time on choosing the one that will help your gameplay style, unlike fallout 3 and nv where i just thrown everything into intelligent and luck perks and the game pretty much became easy for me.
-I like the idea of customizing the power armor even though I'm not fan of power armors, but it would of been better if also add the normal power armor from the previous game were you simply wear it, but mods will properly solve this....
-The world is beautiful, I've yet the discover the ocean part and the glowing sea. I also like the the weather system and especially the foggy ones and the radiation storms.
-overall everything in this game is perfect.
-The compact is really good that's all i can say
-Feral Ghouls are now uglier and they pretend to be dead, which is a nice touch.
-The rads system is way better than the previous game.
-From what i saw on one of the gameplays looks like you can go beyond the pip-boy's square border which mean there's more to the game ( today i'll try to see if it's possible).

    Now the ''bad'' stuff:
-Would of been better if they add more monsters. mutants and factions. but I'm also happy that they removed ants. But hay mods are coming.
    -No karma system :\
-The rep system from New Vegas would of been a nice touch to this game since you can basically can do what you want.
-Bugs and crashes, yep a classic fallout feature. But, it's minor.
-Random FPS drops, dunno what causes then..
-Limited dialog system i wish there were more options.

So is it worth it? for me yes it was, but if you are still concerned then wait until the price drop.

I'd have said it was definitely worth the investment. For me personally, as someone who was a big fan of fallout 3 and NV and the amazing modding scene in both games, it thus far has been pretty much exactly what I wanted out of the game.

Most things I wanted improved, were improved upon, however like the above post states ^, there are a few things like no karma and reputation system which would have been nice to say the least. The limited dialog system and I guess the lack of ability to role play a specific character in mind are minor annoyances for me personally.

The world was a bit smaller than I'd have liked as well and it also seems very empty, with a rather underwhelming amount of raider, super mutant and other monster/mob encounters, even in comparison to fallout 3 (which I swear had more raiders and super mutants than even fallout 4). Maybe this is due in part to the limitations of the XBONE and PS4? Not really too sure, but it seems the most likely explanation. Anyhow, modders will more than likely flesh out the world with more mobs once the modding tools are released.

Also, take the negative reviews on steam with a pinch of salt. For the most part, from what I've read personally at least, if you weren't someone with unbelievably ludicrous expectations of how this game was going to be the most revolutionary game in every conceivable way and or not exactly how you wanted the game to be, then you wont be disappointed.

Beat fallout 4's main quest line today, Honestly the main story was really disappointing as many of the side quests I've played so far as well not to mention easy even on the hardest difficulty, aswell as the quite amount of bugs. just my opinion but not worth the 83 dollars I payed for the game, not my cup of tea. Probably will become a game I only play when I'm bored.

Simple yes or no question here. Was there any choice? Could you choose which factions to side with?

You can choose quite a few factions to work with, working for a certain faction will lock out other's quests, I find after playing the main quest line alot of the factions quests are locked because you went against them, so I restarted figuring I played it to quickly, my advice is slow down on the main quest once you reach diamond city.

I want to get it eventually. Probably only once the prices drop though, since I really don't like the idea of having to pay 60€ for a game (GTA V was the first and last game I've bought for 60€)

It's pretty cool, I've played it a lot and it's clear that it's a good game, just not my type.

I'm really bad at any games like Half-Life or Fallout (anything were you have a mission in an enclosed environment) because I can never figure out where to go in a level. I spent 45 minutes trying to find the roof exit to get to the power armor in the mission in the museum of america; that's a good example of my incompetence in these games. I end up backtracking, trying to jump over impossible obstacles, wondering if there's a puzzle element I'm missing, then I admit defeat and look up a walk-through and immediately feel stupid when I realize you just have to open the door

Yeah GTA V was definitely worth $60 both on PS3 and especially on PC.
Yes, I hate games as well. Just ignore what I said prior to this. :p

It's great. Absolutely worth its price. If you liked Fallout 3 or New Vegas, you'll love 4, it's definitely still Fallout and it's so much better at pretty much everything.
