As most of us know, the Ford Capri Zakspeed was messed up pretty badly when they updated the way downforce works in the game, and it made the car go much, much slower than it should. However, with the help of a friend, I learned how to change the downforce to something manageable. I also found a file in the original thread that fixed the suspension, so essentially the car is much, much faster now. The Zakspeed is honestly one of my favorite cars made for this game, and I'm disappointed that it hasn't been updated in quite some time. At least the problems with it are easily fixable. The track is the Monza Autodrome, from... I have no idea how old this mod is to be honest... I've never even seen it before until my friend showed it to me Music is Pendulum - Granite (Also I played this on a wheel so God help my soul)
Well.. I wouldn't call it fixed 100%, the wheels are hubwheels meaning they lack realistic tire properties and will causes unrealistic behavior. The fact you even managed a lap is very impressive. Also, that is why I recognize that song ^>^. Pendulum... However, maybe in the future you should bump up the bitrate on the audio, since you are using music you might want 320 or higher.
Just as a note, I'm literally just starting to use Blender so I'm a huge novice at this -_- Also, is there a way to fix the hubwheels? Or is it much more complicated than that? Anything to fix this car because there's only two really good race cars in the entirety of the forums that have actually been released...
No, you can't fix hubwheels, but you change them to pressurewheels. Using the same nodes and base parameters from the original hubwheels, create pressurewheels using a similar official tire for the tire parameters.
._. Does... does anybody know how to do that...? I mean... if Jaikku is gonna move on to better things rather than fix it, we might as well keep it up to date so it doesn't fade into the void or something like that... right? Or am I the only one who actually likes this car? -_-
You can try yourself... I've never done it though. Just look at the pressurewheels for the bolide race tires, and the hubwheels for the capri and see if you can sort of substitute in the capri's parameters (hub node, wheel dimensions, etc) into the pressurewheel format. Take a crack at it, you could ask for help if you can't figure it out, the forum will help you.
... okay I'm crap at scripting so I might actually need help ;~; Plus, I currently can't use the computer because of school. Is anyone willing to give it a try?
I just tried... Seems replacing the "hubWheels" section name with "pressureWheels" can get you off to a good start. The tires get a bit larger though.
I know that... I'm just surprised it didn't freak out when I attempted it. I don't know enough to do the rest though.
Most of the time they'll convert pretty well by just changing that, however I believe I changed the Capri once before and the tires looked wonky and squiggly until I changed some things.
So, I guess the question is... would it be worth fixing all of its problems? I mean, I for one would say yes because I think it's an awesome addition to the game, but other people may say otherwise
Well yes... I already knew about the driveshaft issue too, and I had somewhat successfully combated the issue in the past.
