I thought it would be pretty cool to have a working dashboard in the cars, for example have some of the buttons have an option, like turning on the heat or the cooling, using the horn, use the windscreen wipers and rolling up the windows. Its just a thought
While I like the idea, I think sadly most of the functions would be very useless or cost unnessecary nodes and beams... Only way I could see this as feasible is if you could add windscreen wipers like you can add props in RoR, and animate them that way, but even then it seems like a lot of work for no real reason. What I think would be neat though is if all the buttons on the dash would light up, not just speedo/tacho dials, but the buttons in the centerconsole as well. Even then though, it might decrease performance without adding any value. I'd say the amount of dashboard detail in the Covet and the D-15 is already very good. I don't think it's nessecary to go even further.
Good point, but would a few of these things in the example use any nodes or beams or do all of them use em'?
Honestly I am with mythbuster on this one, Unnecessary for dashboard. Save it for when there is a bigger budget and we are dealing with aircraft simulators. In gran turismo 5, I use bumper view even if there is a dashboard anyways. It is much eaiser to see because not everyone sits at the same height above the steering wheel, nor the same distance back. Okay, I really need sleep. Good Night all. Hope I don't get removed in the morning.
Removed? Anyway, agreed. Instead of investing time in useless functions, they should work on something else. The speedometer and rpm gauge are about the only things you really need on a dashboard in a video game. The other stuff would just be for looks.
