Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Wooooow ! It's great ! Well done everyone ! Next Step : Top 1000 ! :3
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Awesome! Hopefully we can get enough people to take BeamNG's folding team to the top.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Holy crap that is amazing! I will be able to fold with my cpu in about a month. (Yay cooler temps!) Carry on with this amazingness!
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Sooooooo, how do I go about getting my CPU to run a -35c? Perfect sense.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Liquid nitrogen, lots and lots of liquid nitrogen...
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. You actually can. Phase change cooling. About $6000 and it can kill your stuff by freezing it, but if you do it right you are only ever limited by voltage on the overclocks, not heat.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. DICE or LN2 are generally the better methods for getting sub-zero temps on hardware. But firstly your hardware can't actually die from the cold. You can get cold boot bugs at very low temperatures which are easily fixed my simply warming your hardware up a little, but thats about it for 'death by cold'. The one thing phase change will do (same goes for the other methods) is condensation will build up and can short out components. This can easily be fixed as well by applying a protective barrier substance on the pcb in question such as "Dragon Skin" and some other various products.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. A guy on the xtreameOC forums tried it with a cheap Athlon x2 to test and he cracked the cpu with the temp change. Maybe it was just because it was an older chip, though.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. I would think he just cooled it too quickly. When using LN2 or DICE you drop the temperatures very slowly to prevent such a reaction.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Thanks to Austin our BeamNG folding team is skyrocketing in the rankings! Hopefully soon we can reach the top 1000 and move on to top 100!
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Going to get it setup on my server so that it's running 24/7 over there. Lower specs then the machine in my sig but every little bit counts.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. That's great! Hopefully we can get quite a few more people to join the team.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Wow guys ! You've got very good computers ! It's impressive ! I'll need to build a gaming configuration as soon as I'll get enough money. My two years old G74 is not enough powerful and I will no longer need for a laptop. By the way, we are doing a very good job with the team. Thanks to all !
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Yeah. I would like to upgrade my computer as well. My FX-4300 and HD7770 don't really bring too many points to the table. :/
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. I use a 7770 too, and with the beta units and bonus points it is pretty nice for a ~$100 card.
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Think I can help out again now that I have a proper 7950. Getting a second in the near future. Not too shabby for stock clocks on this gpu. (imported from here)
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Jeez man, you are racking up those points fast. It only took a week for you put the team at rank ~5000
Re: Folding @ Home, Seti @ Home and other DC projects. Expecting to get a hd 7950 iceq x2 soon. Woo for folding and gaming!
