So my fire is working... sometimes. I've only seen it (the fire) once, after leaving the game sitting with a non- burning car for 5 minutes while I grabbed a snack, and when I came back, it was burning. I have attempted to cause it again 20+ times to no avail. Do I really need to wait that long? I mean maybe its realistic, but it doesn't seem like it (although I'm no genius :p).

Fire is weird sometimes. You have to crash hard to damage the engine severely enough for the car to catch fire, which usually happens within a few seconds. Depends on the car too.

200BX catches fire pretty easy in front-end collisions.

I'm pretty stumped as to why the Bolide doesn't spontaneously combust while puttering around ECA at 20km/h, considering that it's a hotheaded 1980s Italian supercar, and that its name is literally fireball.

@Zappymouse Yeah, it is very difficult to get the civetta in flames... speaking of civetta, i feel like the next car that we haven't already seen, ingame, or on the forum, should be a new "2009-2013" and/or "2014-2017" civetta bolide what do you think?

Most the time you have have to crash over 90MPH to get the car to light into flames. If you wait longer, parts of the engine will pop and explode. I also found that the cars that light on fire the most are the modified or custom cars, to be realistic.

    The
2015-12-18_00001.jpg Heres a pic I snapped. The fire makes the game more realistic and entertaining.

I'll post a more detailed explanation on this on the wiki later, but engine bays catch fire because of conduction from the hot engine/exhaust manifold nodes to nearby flammable nodes. Normally these flammable nodes are placed a safe distance away from the hot ones, but a crash kind of jumbles things up and the two may end up touching, raising temperatures beyond the flashpoint.

Fuel tanks work a bit differently - fuel nodes may spontaneously combust outside the fuel tank as a result of sparks generated by the nodes themselves. They tend to burn fiercely and then die down after a few seconds, but may ignite slower-burning nodes in the car body.

You won't have any luck trying to make the Bolide burn from frontal crashes since there's no engine or fuel tank there. Try rear-ending it with a heavier vehicle for best results.
