I think it is safe to assume that an interface to browse the mods repository will also be provided in game. This is much easier for the end user.
Sorry to those who experienced long delays with update approval. The system backed up and in some cases updates didn't show for approval.
I think that would be the most practical way to mod a game. Question would just be then: Would you need to restart for the mods to be applied or could you just go on and play modded a second later? I mean, that would be something that had probably never been done before.
I don't see why a restart would be required. It's currently 'required' if you just throw a map's zip file in the mods folder after starting the game, but you can probably just re-run the lua script which detects & manages mods. I'm assuming that that is exactly what the mod 'installation' process will do after downloading the zip file to your /mods/ folder - simply re-run that lua script.
The trick is, if the mod is loaded into the RAM instantly (which it should be), you're good to go instantly. If it wouldn't, you would have to restart the game.
I don't think you fully understand how mods work in this game. And being able to add content or functionality to a running program without restarting it has been done thousands of times before.
Feedback, browsing the mods for vehicles/terrains and i'm having trouble finding mods i like because i can tell what i'm going to be interested in 9 times outa 10 from the thumbnail which also helps tell me what it is but all the thumbnail for topics are for the person who made the post so they're a bunch of random profile pictures that have nothing to do with the content of the post/mod. is there an option to change it back to the old style or even view the thumbnail for the post instead of the posters profile picture?.
Only on the forums. If you click the big button that says "MODS" at the top of the page every mod will have its own thumbnail, as uploaded by the author.
I just got my new graphics card and the game still has bad frame rate. I have played other games that have pretty much the same attention to detail for their maps like this one and without cars in a lot of areas the game runs like rubbish. I have a GTX 960 2gb srtix graphics card (they are not cheap here in Australia either), an i7 950 (which hardly ever goes over 60% on this game unless I have like 5 cars and 12gb of ram. My settings are high for textures, high for lighting, medium for mesh quality, medium for shading quality and medium for post processing quality and I am only running the game in windowed mode at 800-900p quality.
Probably you have bad CPU. On GTX 660 OC Edition I don't have any lags on maxed out setting on many maps. Update you OS and ALL drivers. What Windows you have?
The i7 950 is old, runs at 3.0Ghz and screams "replace me". Here it is compared to your CPU (note that the i5 is way lower clocked than yours, so your i5 should get even way better performance.) http://www.cpubenchmark.net/compare.php?cmp[]=837&cmp[]=823
Agreed, the game's performance will be CPU-limited for most users in most situations. The i7-950 really is just too slow! For example, the slowest CPU I've used to play this game is an i5-2500, which has approximatly 50% more single-threaded performance according to PassMark's chart. As I recall i5-2500k generally provides 30-60fps in this game. Worst-case latency is probably somewhat bad on the i5-2500, but on the i7-950 I expect that worst-case is very bad (so the game will hitch and hickup). Why are we discussing this here? This thread is about changes to the forum software, not game performance issues. If you're still concerned about this you should start a thread about your issues or join an existing thread about performance issues. Please follow the instructions in Post #1 in the Lower & Abnormal FPS - Troubleshooting thread. That said, we've already told you the issue.
Thank you for clarifying. It is good to have someone talking plaintext. Also, thanks for the link. I didn't know that thread actually existed.
I'm trying to get a little signature image. First it shows in preview but then dissappears and does not show up anymore. It's 8-9kB and 300x95px How it should work?
just the stuff i noticed in the game, mostly small stuff most of the light of that trailer are not working but thats not really important i think? one day the light get overworked anyways i guess. http://media.beamng.com/2nY3CTVaDFQED9nt thats a very small visual part missing under the Gavril D-Series 2WD version http://media.beamng.com/Bix0XAxx4hXlRWTY if you remove the differential on a almost any car then the gear ratio of the 1st gear is as high as the ratio from the last gear that can lead to tire-exploding speeds! funny thing, i like it! http://media.beamng.com/GPpGWMWMLR3YUgSJ on the Gavril T-Series the heavy duty bumper front bumper has no license plate http://media.beamng.com/BrsIeXNvqyYiXis1 if you land with just the rear axle of the Gavril Roamer land a bit hard without damaging the suspension, then this happens sometimes http://media.beamng.com/zlGixXOcZWF8JKJ5 thats all so far great game btw looking forward to online multiplayer^^
