We should have an Euroncap crash test map so we can see how the cars react to their tests http://www.e-transport.ro/_files/newscustom/TESTELE DE SIGURANTA AUTO.jpg http://images.motoring.co.uk/images/newsImages/euro-ncap-bite-size-guide-30353-image1.jpg http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_FoXyvaPSnVk/Sh1KXgRlvfI/AAAAAAAByNU/EldcnfqChl8/s400/Euro-NCAp-2.jpg http://carseatblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/euro-ncap-side-pole-crash-test.bmp All of the above should be included and many more (mabye some extrem crash tests)
I think that they will probably make one but if they didn't it would not be a hard map to make yourself. Also if you don't want to, someone else will make one as it is a common idea.
I think it would be much cooler to have the testtrack from VW in there... an EuroNCap track would get boring very quickly, since a lot of the test require the cars to be stationairy. Some (perhaps older) VW testtracks however, are a whole different story. Here's an example:
I think those maps would be cool on a grander scale, meaning bigger jumps, harsher conditions, and more damaging tests. Both of the maps suggested would get boring after a while, so I think all of the tests should be exaggerated to make them interesting.
Well, we don't know what the BeamNG test area includes, but I assume it's either the map we see in the first few videos or something similar to it? That's fun and all, and I would hate to miss out on that... BUT... I think it would be a ton of fun to have a testing area that's completely set up like a real test area. I'm completely speculating here, but I think the testing area already in BeamNG is using an entirely different concept to test cars than a real vehicle testing area uses. I assume yours is made to test how well the physics engine works, and to test if a car deforms and functions correctly, much like Nlabs and the All-in-One-testing-area in Rigs of Rods(both great maps, don't get me wrong!). That's makes for a completely different setup than when you're trying to simulate years of wear and tear and heavy abuse, how the ABS would cope with very harsh and uneven terrain, how the suspension would react to sliding into a curb, how the car would cope with smashing into gravel... I feel even Auriga for RoR 0.4.0 is too much set-up as a node/beam testing area, rather than a real vehicle testing area(though the rocky suspension test on that come close)... Personally I'd love to have something set-up like the VW testing area, in a very realistic matter, properly textured like real world objects, rather than the suspension-test thing in Auriga 0.4... :/ It would probably be pretty useless to people like Gabester, but I think gameplay-wise it would add a lot more than an N-labs or Auriga-like testing area where you can test if your car deforms correctly compared to real cars. I hope that made sense, but I doubt it TL;DR I would prefer having a testing area to simulate years of road-(ab)use in a matter of minutes, set up with very realistic objects and tests(ie from the video), over having a testing area to test if the in-game car deforms like a real car, smashing it into a solid concrete wall at 60mph... EDIT@below: Ah, that sounds awesome! Can't wait to see pics
I like the sound of the beamng to test the to test how well the physics engine. But am with mythbuster we need a map to simulate years of wear and tear and heavy abuse.
Actually we do have a new test map in the works that has things like that - rows of bumps of various sizes for testing suspension durability, curbs, etc. I try to fine tune the suspension to deform just right from hitting curbs and the like, so it is useful to me
i dont even like VW but AW GAWD these poor cars! (i luv how a 4door Golf became a 2 door Golf after a crash)
