I had a little idea a while ago, and i was wondering if anyone thought i should follow through on it. Basically, i think we should have Community Content Challenges, where once every month or two, a big thread is posted where everyone is challenged to make a car or truck around a theme, like obscure sports cars, rat rods, post apocolyptic marauders, steampunk art deco cars, american hot rods, hot wheels cars, whatever, as long as it's cool. Mainly modeling of course, as well as mabye even terrains for stuff like the mad max stuff, big prop and environment set packs for terrain building to keep each theme rolling as time goes on, that sort of thing. And and in my mind anything that was nodebeamed together or all wrapped up by the end of it would be thrown into a big download, with a big old themed pack release with much fanfare and blasting of horns. In my mind the rules would all be down to theme and artstyle. So say for the desert marauder stuff, it'd be outlined that the theme is road warrior stuff, cobbled together out of old street cars and scrap guff, and not war machines with guns and mounted atomic warheads. Or for the hot wheels pack we'd set out that you can only model hot wheels original cars, but done up as if they were real cars, and not scaled up die casts, complete with full interiors and realistic performance and such, along with accompanying terrains on a 10 year old's floor or something, mabye even a joke map where you spawn in a blister pack on a collectors shelf and can never move out of it. Then the 'art style' would sort of be layed out loosely, just so everything would gel together as a pack and not feel too cobbled together, with the rest of that thread being nothing but progress and ideas from anyone who was throwing in, with an eventual overhanging release date for all. so yeah, i was wondering if it'd be a cool idea to start this now that the game's out and all. If i were to start it i'd start with the road warrior stuff just because it's so fun to work with, and it'll allow for a lot more creativity then say Obscure European Rally Car month or something of the like, and it'd allow to get the ball rolling pretty well. So yeah, thoughts? feel free to praise me as an all powerful omnipotent deity or scream at me for being a fastidious self conceited philistine in equal measure
I didn't think so. This'd be an entirely community done thing, with nothing to do with gabester and friends unless they just wanted to throw something in, and ideas and suggestions is for the game itself and official content, not community hooh hahs. plus i just wanted to guage reaction from people, and again, that didn't seem the place for it
That's a pretty good idea. I would love to see some theme's like oldtimers, desert marauder and road warrior.
It's a good idea, but you do know that the cars take more than a mere month or two to make right? In contrast, in RoR, it takes almost 6 months (if I remember correct) for a pro to complete a single good quality vehicle. Although in BeamNG it's been promised that it will be much easier, I don't see it lowering the amount too much, maybe 3-4 months for a pro & about 6-7 months for a beginner/total newbie.
Well the hope was that a few people would jump on a single project. One guy would nodebeam, another texture another model or something like that. i don't know, it was just an idea
so i guess realistically it'd work if it was about 2-3 months long each? i really think this'd do a lot for the community, really get some content flowing, draw in some more talent and such. Stuff like this goes on all the time on facepunch and polycount, i guess it's just a question of weather or not there's enough people who'd pitch in
It's not a contest, more a community project than anything else. just me screaming out a theme into the wilds and everyone going "oh ok" and doing their own thing with it
You're a god, of course you can Guess we would just have to wait & see, hopefully we may be able to implement something like this.
So I just watched a video by DaSquierellsNuts :I hope that's how it is spelled: and he said that he would like trucks in the game so maybe there could be one with say semi`s involved
