    Just going to say this pretty bluntly.
    But if you had the skill to jump straight into modding, you would know the answer to this question, its not something for texturing or modelling newbies.

    Blender for the models. Paint.net, gimp or photoshop for texturing.

    A programming class does not aid modelling or texturing, it would be like me taking a painting class to write a novel. No relation at all.

    Its a really complicated process, one which involves typing in the web address to google.com and searching for that answer yourself.
