It seems to make about as much since as comparing apples and fighter jets, but people still compare them and I've even heard people say that beamNG is just like GTA... it makes no since at all.
i think they try and compare gta 4 and beamng because of the damage model. but gta 4 has shit physics compared to beamng because beamng is softbody physics and gta 4 isn't ( i assume they are comparing gta 4 because it has a better damage model than gta 5) so idk why they do, maybe because they want beamng physics to be in gta? (which will prob never happen because of the processing power that would be required)
I pisses me off when people try to compare anything to GTA. It's an ARCADE game comparing to a SIMULATION game. There just fanboys who just want everything in GTA because it's the "best thing ever". There s a reason why I'll never buy it.
Ignoring a game just because it's huge and people like to request features for it? I'm all for never seeing BNG compared to GTA ever again, but this just seems silly.
The closest you will get between a BeamNG/GTA "mix" http://www.beamng.com/resources/francis-international-airport-gta-iv-map.55/
Perhaps in term of graphical performance they are comparable, but otherwise.... well, consider that most people don't know the difference between a desktop and a laptop, so this doesn't surprise me.
*Grabs a seat and grabs the popcorn and sits in the seat munching the popcorn* anyone want to join me?
I think from a performance stand point it makes sense. It's a game that almost everyone has (GTAV) so people have a common benchmark. It gets compared to everything performance wise.
My previous statement stands. What chaos? This is a civilized discussion, nothing's gone awry, so what is the matter?
I'm not even talking about performance, I'm talking about people saying the gameplay is just like GTA, but even when comparing performance its a pretty unfair comparison as the physics of beamNG are much more detailed.
Yeah. Today's consoles would get crushed by Beam. Another reason that the two are compared is that there are cars of similar size/performance/looks in GTA to some cars in Beam (Sultan and Sunburst, Paradise and H-Series or even Huntley S and SBR4, if only slightly) so it's logical to compare them. Until you remember the physics engine differences.
