I couldnt find a thread about that , but id really like to know what we players can do to the graphics. Are the graphic options like in the cryengine 3 SDK or more like in crysis 2? My Rig can play Crysis 2 maxed out with dx11 but without highres textures , but i cant drive gabesters newest cars on rigs of rods (mv4 and Bandit) with more than 15-20 fps on the Flatmap. how will my fps count look here? And will the graphic options even change the fps when ive got a biosflashed 6950 (so its a 6970 )? thanks for all answers
XD yes , i havent got that problem with my graphics but my processor is derpier than your ati , a amd athlon 2 X4 630 (worst quadcore EVER!)
Are you sure that it is a problem with your graphics? your cpu might be pegged, mine is well before my 8400 gs is.
xD processing is definately my comp's strong point. If all else fails (graphics wise) I can play BeamNG on my laptop, it's got an Intel Core 2 Duo @ 2.2GHz, 2GB of RAM, and an NVidia 8400GT GO.
Lol even my aging 955BE kicks that things ass (if I was still using it) as does my laptops 3160QM. Anyway back on topic.. CryEngine has a pretty flexible graphics system, and from what I've seen the game isn't exactly taxing graphics-wise (about as taxing as the original Crysis, which can be played on Low even with Intel HD 4000 graphics).
They havent got a L3 cache , dunno if thats important but my x4 630 cant get more than 20 fps with garvil bandit in RoR on flatmap :/ SCREW YOU AM2+ SOCKET , NO GOOD POCESSORS FOR U AVAILABLE. what was ur quad again?
AMD Athlon II X4 645 @ 3.2GHz I also only get around 20FPS for the Gavril Bandit and MV4. The main problem is the fact that RoR only supports 2 cores, we're running on half power with a quad. Other than that, I get great FPS.
same goes with my x4 630 : it LAUGHS about battlefield 3 on ultra but when i play gabes new cars in RoR BOOOM 18-25 fps
That's cause nearly every normal AAA-title isn't CPU intensive. You can play BF3 on ultra with a dualcore if you get the right one, as long as your graphics card and RAM are good enough you're usually good to go with any well-known game. I think even games like Crysis and Far Cry 3 don't neccesarily require epic CPUs... Only "mainstream" / AAA-game I've had the "pleasure" to deal with that requires a really decent CPU was GTA IV, and that's pretty much solely cause it has a horridly bad PC port(that and sometimes having huge numbers of vehicles on screen are the only reason I think)... On the other hand, RoR is the exact opposite, it kinda requires a relatively recent, good CPU, but RoR doesn't require a high end graphics card at all. Of course I don't know for sure about BeamNG on the GPU front, but to me it seems obvious you need a decent graphics card for this as well as a decent CPU.
Theres only the problem theres no good AM2+ processor , and i havent got the money for a new GOOD mainboard
A while back on kickstarter Estama said that they are planning to support GPU calculations to relieve some of the CPU's load if you have a slow CPU. So your GPU could give sort-of a "helping push" if the CPU bogs down. It would definitely be cool to have the GPU do some calculations, but I don't know how much benefit it would be. Any info about that would be great
This might be of interest to you Skip to around 2:10, he explains the basic principle around why the GPU would be a good way to deal with physics. which is why they're using two GPUs to deal with a large particle simulation. Its basically that because GPUs are geared more towards threading and running cores in parallel that they're as good at multiple particle simulations as they are at graphics rendering. For something like BeamNG which uses two particles, nodes that have mass and velocity, and a deformable harmonic oscillator(beam) -- a GPU is almost ideal.
As long as there's quad-core support the CPU part won't be a problem, but like I said, it's the graphics I worry about. I guess I'll just wait till the pre-alpha comes out.

They won't design the game for one architecture.. -.- If the physics is simulated by the GPU, it doesn't have to use PhysX. They could use OpenCL for example.
