In my 5 or so years of using Rigs of Rods I have learned that it never has bugs; just quantum instability ;). Which leads me to this article that I discovered the other day.

    ... So if you look at this video @ 0:06 - 0:20:

    And all of this video:

You can see that there is really an abnormal amount of movement in the mirrors of the cars. For example, I drove my Honda Pilot down a heavily rutted road at 60mph the other day and the mirrors did not wobble at all. Now, I'm not saying the "physics are bad" or anything like that. The properties are completely up to the artist. But there did seem like there was a close correlation between low weight, high damping and explosions in Rigs of Rods. And the fact that the mirror (i.e. one node) is bouncing around leads me to believe that it's weight is high and if you tried to reduce it there would be instability. In Rigs of Rods it was a pretty skilled art to get the weight of a vehicle down. I remember Pricorde said there was a constant somewhere in the physics engine which had to do with weight and stability. He said he tuned it for big trucks which I guess is why all the cars had to be so heavy. So I was wondering if, with this new BeamNG, there is any new magic tricks to get the vehicles to be stable (no quantum meltdowns ). Anyway, not trying to be negative or anything. Nomatter what it's still going to be mighty impressive :)

Gabester has said all cars in BeamNG are realistic weight, and that it doesnt take to much work (relatively, anyways) to get them there. From that i assume that the physics are much more suited to smaller vehicles than they were in RoR. Which, if true, will be absolutely fantastic.

As far as the mirrors go, it is of coarse hard to make any judgments without seeing any n/b screenshots or playing with the model in person, but i would assume it could be as you said, the node(s) for the mirror are to heavy, or it could simply be that the beams holding it up are not structurally correct (to sharp of an angle creating a weakness at the joint or something similar possibly).

I actually fixed the mirrors the other day, there were just a few beams missing.

Oh, ok then:eek: How much do the mirror node(s) weigh by any chance? Could you simulate, say, a chair with realistic weight without it exploding? That would be very impressive.

The mirror nodes in the hatchback weigh 0.56 kg, and there are 5, so a mirror weighs 2.8kg or about 6 lbs. Probably heavier than a real mirror but I don't think I can get it much lighter.

WOW  that's insane! You could probably even simulate a computer monitor hitting the floor with those kinds of weights. Really looking forward to the release :)

Will non-flexbody cars be possible like in ror?
I'm thinking a desk with a computer to smash.
