Subaru automatics aren't great transmissions, even as autos go. At least a manual swap is possible on most vehicles ;) $$$ though

Yeah... the common swap to do is get an old 2.3L Turbocoupe engine because even though it is the exact same engine as mine, it was built with forged internals. That means they can make huge power. I have heard that the bottom end in the 2.3s could take upwards of 1000hp with only modifications to the top end. That's pretty good going for an engine that you can usually pickup at a junk yard for under 350 bucks.

A lot of people have even swapped the 5.0 out of their stangs in favor of the 2.3 Turbo because, ironicly, you can make more power with less work on them. That's kinda weird when you think about it.

Anyways, the real big reason I haven't done any type of swap or power mods is because of the particular spec of my car. N/A 2.3L auto. I would have to swap so much stuff to make it a good car that it wouldn't be funny. Just to swap to a turbo I would have to swap the transmission, driveshaft, axle, engine (obviously), exhaust, and the computer just to name the big things. If it was a manual I could take the transmission, and driveshaft out of that equation (still a bit of a list, but better) so you can imagine how big the list gets when we consider swapping to a 5.0.

Tbh, if I had it, I'd be inclined to straight up do a tranny swap already.

Even a stock cossie though, got a good 200-300hp already. Some models higher.

Here's my Megane's time in semi-dry conditions. 0-60 takes about 5.3. Apologies for the camera angle, I was holding the camera between my neck and chest.
