Multiplayer as people want it in this game is a very long way off, so I was thinking about some alternatives that would allow people to interact in the game. Why not add a player run used vehicle market? This would be a fun way to add to the depth and realism to the campaign, where Beamng would sell brand new cars and parts, and players could sell their old, used cars for extra cash in the campaign. If the ability to save vehicle states (miles, fuel, wear and tear, damage) is implemented, this would make selling used cars a fun aspect. If you total a car, and need cash for a new one, you could part out the totaled car, selling doors, wheels, and anything that still works. Or if you have a car that you don't use anymore, your starter covet that you used for a few races, you could sell that, and a new user could buy it, but it would still have the problem of having a high mileage count and any damage you did to it. Each user could have a marketplace, where they sell parts and cars, and others could search for cars and parts that they want to buy. This would also allow for skilled players, who know how to tune, to buy cars, tune them up with new parts, and set the stage three turbo and suspension (like how you can change it now) to values ideal for racing or other activities.
This sounds like a great idea. I've thought of something rather similar. I just have no idea how in the heck it would be implemented. This would be like an actual "sell your beamng cars" selling space instead of a spammed thread.
This would be super cool especially with a screenshot system inplace where you could take snaps of your cars and show them off. Aside from people putting cars up for double their realistic value once the actual career gets put in-place.
There would be supply and demand, so no one would buy those overpriced cars if they could just buy them new from Beamng. There could be a rating system in place, where after a transaction you could rate the seller's honesty and it would be publicly displayed. It would regulate itself.
kind of like how you get those dreamers in real life selling their car more then its valued at because they want to get their money back. isn't this feature kind of like the auction house in forza 2?.
I guess so. I've never really played F2, but if it allows you to sell your personal cars and parts then yes, this is exactly like that. I've also been thinking some more about this, and I realized that there would have to be some system in place to make sure that people can't go and edit their game files so that they have 10 copies of every car, which they can then go sell at below market value. It would be cool if each car had a title, just like in real life, so every time you bought a new car from Beamng it would be a verified purchase with a legit title. Cars that you spawn in would not have a title, and as such couldn't be sold. But then this would require some sort of online connection so that the Beamng servers could send you a title. Or maybe there's a way to do it offline.
This sounds like a great idea. It could even lead to a little in-game economy. Totally in favor of this, however it might be implemented.
