Well, i have had the current settings for a while now, 4.5ghz 1.26V for all 4 cores, before it occasionally BSODed and said WHEA uncorrectable error which is standard, now when playing beamng it happens a lot at 4.5ghz and there is no BSOD screen, just power off as if an RCD switch tripped or something, im beginning to wonder if this is my powersupplys overcurrent protection, but i have no way of telling, should i up the voltage as i have quite a bit of cooling capacity(prime 95 shows 72C) or drop the clock speed?, my gpu isnt overclocked at the moment --- Post updated --- also the asus ai suite says that my 12V rail gets down to about 11.6v to 11.4v under load on both the GPU and CPU, --- Post updated --- and the powersupply is an antec earthwatts 380w powering an I5 4690k and asus strix gtx 960
Nvidia website says that a 400W PSU is recommended, so maybe it's BSOD-ing because of that. I'm not an expert though
I couldn't imagine ever having under 400W for a PC with a decent CPU and a dedicated GPU, let alone an overclock build.
works at 3.9ghz (turbo speed) yeah, i am being stingy with my powersupply, im going to have to buy another one, possibly a 650W, which will give me room for upgrades
That PSU is not nearly enough, honestly I'm surprised it hasn't released the magic smoke yet. Good job, Antec. Get a new PSU, at least 600W from a good brand. Don't try to overclock with this one. A PSU failure could kill your entire PC.
I did mention it in Post 3 that the PSU wasnt going to provide enough but I was unsure on what Wattage was needed at least you filled that in for me so thanks
so something along the lines of this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-RM6...qid=1455633417&sr=8-4&keywords=corsair+rmi650
I think my antec power supply is now going out as it blue screened with no over clocks just watching a 1080p YouTube video , I really need to get my system sorted If only you could over clock your powersupply (or set it to 115v on the English 230v system to make it blow up)
Don't use Prime95. Especially with a 400W power supply. That program is known to fry PSU's, sometimes even the CPU. Use Aida64 and use your computer as normal. TL;DR: NEVER use Prime95!
Only if its a bundle of shit. Prime95 is one of the only programs that tests as thoroughly as it does. If your computer is adequately powered and cooled it will be just fine.
yep, ran my thinkpad through it got up to 150 degrees Fahrenheit but thinkpads have no plastic on them so it held up awsome
Thermaltake TR2. From an older build. Decent unit, but not 80+ and definitely not great. It's only fine because it's below 60% load. But, do as I say not as I do. I'm actually going to replace it soon, probably getting an RM750i (EVGA is cheaper, but Corsair has individually sleeved cables which look very nice). Edit: Reason it's still there is I'm long due a PSU upgrade. Couldn't afford a new PSU for my FX6100/R9 270 build back in 2013. Kept it when I upgraded to a 4690K and GTX 970, since it was good enough until I could get a new one. Now I have nothing else to upgrade, so I'm getting a new PSU.
