Ever since I updated BeamNG to 0.4.0.2, I have been enjoying the scenarios and the progress in the UI.
It's amazing! I was stunned by the work of the dev's.

    But there is one problem:

Before this update when ever I put my lighting quality to high (and every thing else to high except SSAO and HDR), I would get 55FPS on the two grid maps, and 30FPS on all the other "realistic" maps.
Now, ever since I have updated to 0.4.0.2, when I enabled the same settings I had before (see above) I get 40FPS on the two grid maps, and 20-25 on all the "realistic" and scenario maps.
I have no idea why. My PC specs hit the requirement to play the game.

Roadside's system specs (taken from their steam account):

    • Make: Dell
    • Model: Alienware 14
    • Operating System: Windows 8.1 (64bit)
    • Processor: Intel Core I7 4700MQ Quad Core Clocked at 2.40 GHz
    • Ram: 16GB DDR3 Clocked at 1600MHz
    • Graphics Processor: Nvidia GeForce GTX 765M with 2GB GDDR5
    • Hard Drive: 750GB

Your laptop only meets the minimum requirements but not the recommended requirements. Its mainly your graphics card which will be holding you back in BeamNG. So you will not be able to run the game at full settings at 60fps. So you may need to turn down some of the settings, for example turning off postfx can make a difference to the frame rate without making much of a visual impact, turning of AA can also make a fairly sizable performance increase and doesn't look too bad in this game especially if you dont sit with your nose pressed against the monitor. Turning off the frame limiter and vsync may help you a little bit as well.

I forgot to include that I turbo boosted my CPU to 3.2GHz.

Your CPU is probably fine, its your GPU that will be holding you back. Of course with it being a laptop there really isn't much you can do about that other than lowering the graphics settings.

Sorry for the necropost, but I'm having problems with Lighting, too.
Switching it from Lowest to Low halves my FPS (from 60-80) down to ~34 in relatively complex scenes (like the town in East Coast).
    i7-4770K @ 4.6 GHz, Nvidia 980Ti @1.4 GHz.

That really shouldn't happen. Have you tried updating/reinstalling GPU drivers?

    Also try this:
    1. In the in-game menu (ESC) go to Options > Gameplay and enable advanced functions if you haven't already.
    2. Load freeroam East Coast and go to the town with any normal car (not Pigeon or T-series).
    3. Set graphics settings to your usual configuration, with lighting set to lowest
    4. Select 'Performance' in the menu and let the graphs fill the entire screen. Don't move your vehicle.
    5. Press Alt+O
    6. Repeat 4 and 5 with lighting set to low
    7. In Windows Explorer go to Documents > BeamNG.Drive > screenshots and find both pictures of the graphs
    8. Upload them here
