Great update! Do you guys plan on connecting the check engine light to engine damage? Typically it would go off long before the engine shut down completely.
You guys blow me away every time, THANK YOU. Every update is AMAZING with so much added, I can never wait till the next update! keep up the great job!!!
I'm sorry, but this update was kind of disappointing. The engine thermal system is just underwhelming. Yes, maybe we can occasionally overheat our engines, and maybe get some smoke effects coming from under the hood. But that's really all there is to this update. If you want to do some serious damage to your engine, you have to take out the radiator and drive at max revs for a good few minutes until the oil heats up enough to damage the rods and kill the engine. it has to be in that specific order as well. Blown Head gasket -> Piston Rings -> Connecting rod bearings and engine failure. You can only achieve engine failure through lots of driving without a radiator on gridmap. I have yet to see an engine fail under normal driving circumstances, even massive front end damage or repeated hits to radiators/engine blocks in demo derbies. I can still hit a tree and destroy the front end of the car, leaving the engine block and all the belts and whatnot exposed and still drive away worry free, because I only have a small coolant leak which will eventually only lead to a blown head gasket, with which I can still drive. The cars still feel as invincible as ever in regards to the engine. Engines should be fragile things, and this new thermal system has done nothing to make them feel more fragile or increase the difficulty of the game.
Well, you don't tend to see a real car's head gasket blow under normal driving conditions either. The fact that it's hard for these vehicles to get damaged from thermal stress just shows how well they are designed. Remember, this game is a simulator. If it's hard to break an engine from thermal stress IRL, then it should be hard in-game.
Wait until they introduce an oil system, so like if you damage your oil sump or roll over you loose oil then the engine would seize solid in a sort time. basically without oil your engine would seize.
How come any time your con rods go, if you let go of the gas, it dies? It doesnt always happen like that.. < is a example
How do you get the connecting rod bearings to get damaged? I have tried everything but it does not get damaged. Still awesome update. Really adds a lot of realism in the game.
Awesome update! Tho I hoped for a TrackIR support for the headmovement in incar views instead of the NumKeys.
Great update, but i was too expecting a new car, maybe the old etk. But that aside, it's an amazing update! Really shows hoe far beamng has come from the prerace stages!
They didn't change anything else about transmissions besides the names. (arcade, automatic, manual, manual (clutch assist))
Oh. Lame. It's just kind of irritating having to constantly change shifter modes, I don't understand why it's not a menu option. --- Post updated --- Hmm. not actually sure, I only tried real quick with the Gavril and that was the "realistic auto." I'll check right now, but usually when I switch cars it sets it back to Arcade I guess? then I have to hit the button and try to figure out what mode I'm in.
Anyone know the Vehicle Lua command to set the oil to a certain temperature? I'm not familiar with any Lua related to BeamNG.
It's so cool that this game has reached the level where I can genuinely laugh at things that occur, like front end suspension shenanigans and ripping wheels off in trees. For me that is a big deal. Also the handling has become such an important and satisfying element now, it's actually fun and predictive. Lovin' it.
I love the new updates. A couple of comments though. I hope you don't overdo it with the car fires. Real cars rarely burst into flames in crashes because of design and safety reasons. But sometimes it feels that the cars in BeamNG ignite too easily. However when they do, it's a joy to watch. Especially when the tires burst from the heat. And is it just me or are many of the scenarios involving the AI broken? When I start a chase scenario I win automatically because the AI car is immediately wrapped around a tree or something.
as usual awesome update, although i'm personally curious as to where the ability to manually start and stop engines and electrics and such is on your guy's priority list
