Unless you need the features that Nvidia provides, the R9 380 is a better buy. It performs better and costs the same. Also, make sure you grab the 4GB model.

He didn't. The link is to a 4GB card.
There are links in the price comparison link. Click on a card, then click a vendor's icon.

Nvidia isn't quite king anymore. In several price points, the AMD card performs better than the Nvidia card.

No he didn't. It doesn't say that he edited the post, and the link in your quote (which won't change) is the same link as in his post.

Just be wary that the money you save with AMD is due to less stable drivers and less thermally efficient GPUs (they expend more heat per unit power).

No he didn't, the link in your quote of his post would be the 2gb one If that was true.

Either way the AMD card is better all round.

Not anymore. The drivers are now just as stable and the GPU's now run much cooler.

Not really. I've reinstalled my R9 390's drivers many times, and it still has multiple crashes throughout the week (can't seem to find empirical data on the subject, but by old GTX 580 never had any driver issues, and I had it for 5 years). And as for temperatures, the TDPs of the 390x vs the 980 differ by over 100 Watts for the same performance point, so it consumes more power per TFLOP, which would most likely mean that it generates more heat as a result.

Get a 380 instead. Better performance for the same price, and much better DX12 performance.
