In this thread I'll be posting updates on this map I started. It's far from done so don't expect a release anytime soon. Maybe there will be a beta at some point. It's my first go at making a map so progress is slow. I'm posting this now mostly to see if people have suggestions or if I need some help with things It will feature: -A main highway -A bunch of other roads -Gas stations and other buildings along the road -Day/night cycle (currently a full day lasts 2 hours) -2 or 3 different cars at different locations around the map Please share your suggestions and feedback On hold until updates stop messing everything up.
Haha, I was just about to start making a highway map too, but my mapping skills (Road laying) are too bad so I'm happy you did it. Anyway, I was thinking at least one side has a downhill on its side so you can see some fascinating terrain whilst driving on the highway and of course some vegetation. I'm looking forward to see how it develops.
I hope you can create such a big map, i couldnt^^ I hope your roads will have some bumps (lower ones), its making it interesting
Yeah! bumbs or like cracks, just the road being a little bit damaged would be amazing! it makes it alot more fun and challanging to drive on im really looking forward to this map! keep it up!
I'll try my best guys Thanks When you're in the editor, select "Road and Path Editor". It's well explained in this tutorial: http://www.beamng.com/threads/2764-...in-for-Beam-NG-(in-depth-guide-with-pictures)
Finally a great cruising map Thank you blackhole522! As mentioned before it would be great to have some potholes and other defects in the road.
I'll generate a flat 4096x4096 terrain tonight to see what engine decides to do about it. Terrain Editor appeared to react poorly when I had more than one terrain object around. But they were both in same place.
I tinkered around a bit, and I have to say that a giant piece of flat terrain compresses down quite well. The engine makes a BigGrid_basetex.dds that is the same size as for other .ter files
Just a few tips: People dont really like others bumping 8 month old threads, and if you are going to bump it, at least spell "bump" right. And seeing that there hasnt been any mothfart of public progress on the map for over half a year, I think it is safe to say that this is canceled.
Thank you for responding, however, I'd have to hear that from an Admin or Moderator. Sorry. I reject your tips on the basis that they seem to be based on personal preference. My apologies for offending you. rJay
