I think there should be a traffic system. Maybe it works by choosing random cars and sending them on specific courses at specific speeds. It would improve the game so much for me. Thanks.
P.s obviously make it so it can be enabled and disabled.

Won't happen due to CPUs not being powerful enough to handle more than 5 cars at a reasonable FPS. Also, people with low-/mid-range PCs would get (less than) 10FPS, so it would make the game unplayable for like 85% of the community.

it can be done if you make these cars less fps intense and the main car just normal exampje the traffic arent that good at crashing you can enable or disable some of the detias ect no reflection ect so preload the drive path then play believe me it can be done

Non-player cars already have basic cube-map reflections. [Basically no performance impact]

As for the lowered detail, that would kind of defeat the purpose of the physics.

i would love that but some people in this game don't have a gaming PC.

i dont i have an ancient dell computer, but they could edit the cars take out all the details so they are less cpu intense.

that would be good for lower end computers. They can maky other cars less detailed and your more.

Maybe add traffic as an option for those of us who can handle it! Or maybe sometime in the future, if or when BeamNG has multiplayer, let the servers have traffic! I have a nice CPU that can handle 11 cars without dropping below 60 fps so having some intelligent traffic spawning would be awesome.

This wouldn't work for a long time until pc's can handle like 50 vehicles on screen at 60 fps.

Just have a slider so you could select like 1,2,3,4,5,6... ect.

Even if the traffic isn't dense it's more gameplay... always a good thing.

Use a sort of physics sleep for the NPC cars until you're near them - that would help with the CPU side of things, keeping the actual number of simulated vehicles under the core count, but the graphics engine is pretty unoptimized so framerates would drop just looking at other cars - a sort of LOD for the cars could help with this.

It's feasible, and I'd like to see it.

Just wanted to bump this great idea to give it some more attention. Having random cars driving around on maps with you would make for some great crashes. It would be nice to have some crash possibilities that don't have to be meticulously set up. Obviously the amount of traffic would be configurable.

This is proposterous! Some maps are suppose to be abandoned. Like Port for example. It says and I quote "An abandon port" end quote. Our computers will die. Do you want to be a computer killer? How could it be possible?

Some 4core I7s can use 6 bolides fine and 6/8 core I7s can often use over 6 cars fine.

Have you ever heard of a quote-on-quote "sandbox"?

Maybe these cars could have a weaker quality and less detail? Then the game would be smooth and FPS didn't be slower.

    1. Create a small city map with working AI
    2. Spawn as much cars your PC can handle
    3. Set AI to random
    4. Enjoy your mess

They would need new physics algorithms to make it run better that and a combination of more graphics settings.
They could do what halo did, If an object isn't moving for 5seconds, The physics stop.

Not really... what they do need is a more optimized graphic pipeline/renderer.

    Tourqe3D is currently so overtaxxed.
