1) The tire physics from Live For Speed (if Scawen ever gets it done) 2) The mud physics from Spin Tires 3) Actual fracturing and fragmentation (e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FIPu9_OGFgc) 4) Add pedestrians and work with Stainless Games for their next Carmageddon Agree?
Tire physics are fine, it's the model that is lacking. This is discussed elsewhere on the forum. It's so plain to see I don't even get why there is a discussion, to be honest. Deformable terrain would be cool, but probably pretty resource intensive Fracturing would also be pretty hard with the current physics model. Maybe some realtime model splitting or something.... Pedestrians and Carmageddon integration? Hell yeah! Also I'd like to add another point, also discussed elsewhere, and that is Automation integration. Now THAT would be awesome!
I agree with atledreier about adding deformable terrain. The game is pretty hardware demanding as is, once you start adding that into the mix, you would need a super computer to run it. I could care less about the tire physics, it would be cool to see how they react to rocks like in Spin Tires, but I could see how this would also impact the demand on resources. Improving how rocks interact with the vehicles would be a great improvement. I hate it when I am wheeling, and as soon as I approach a rock it brings the truck to an immediate stop like I hit a wall. Sometimes the rocks are hard to crawl over realistically.
1.) The driving mechanics could use a little tuning. Seriously. The sports car (Whatever its name is), drives more flimsy than a epileptic person in a wheelchair. Drive at roughly 30Mph, push "left" or "right" once, and you've done a 180 degree turn within 5 - 8 seconds. 2.) Customizable controls. Driving is kind of difficult, when the brakes are located beneath the acceleration button. 3.) Better interface. It feels clustered, laggy and non-responsive. 4.) Better customization regarding vehicles. Somewhat similar to #3, but it's very, and I mean, VERY, limited. 5.) Races. Ranging from drifting to road-rage. Everyone would love road-rage in this game. 6.) Camera. Camera reset on re-do would be appreciated. But the camera in general feels forced and non-responsive. 7.) Suburban areas. Sure, landscapes with roads are fine and dandy, but suburban areas would bring more promise.
Back when it was still on CryEngine, not only did it look better, but it was possible to literally cut a car in half. Since they can't afford to use CryEngine, they had to use Torque3D which isn't bad, but not as good. Also, deforming terrain like in Spin Tires is just not worth it since this is not a game based on off roading like Spin Tires is. And there's all the work it would take to implement it. Simply not worth their time.
had a good laugh at a voroni fracture algorythm, you could have at least tried that in blender and check how much perfomance that needs. people allready have problems to run multiple cars at once but you want to add even more overkill physics. lets take Real Wave algorythms too and simulate a real ocean with foam n all that nice stuff...
