Yesterday I posted requests for licensed cars and I got a negative response from the community (damn them) and they deleted my posts (I think) and made a rule to not request licensed cars and that really pissed me off so I'm making this thread for licensed car requests and fictional brands, I got an idea and here it is: 1. Licensed cars will be exclusive mods made by BeamNG and can be downloaded from the site until they can move to *cough**cough*steamworkshop*cough**cough* 2. We'll need fictional brands that parody these car manufacturers: -Fiat -Opel -Audi -Volkswagen -Skoda -Opel -Lotus -FSO (Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych) And these performance brands -Liberty Walk -HKS -Greddy -Mugen -Spoon Sports More will be added soon No silly/stupid names otherwise they'll be ignored and if it's foreign/latin please show a translation and if it's initialed please show an abbreviation as well I might get banned and my thread might get deleted but let's see how far this thread goes
Yeah --- Post updated --- But like I said they would be classified as mods though --- Post updated --- Lol I forgot
Sounds ok i guess, except for the Steam workshop, and I haven't heard of several of those car brands.
Nobody is going to be banned for asking something legit. Althought, people already explained to you We, as devs, cannot distribute licenced vehicles in a commercial product without purchasing the royalties. Those royalties are not cheap, and being a startup company, it's not a doable thing. Modders can*** do that, as mods are not commercial material. We will continue making our own fictional cars as we have plenty of design to be made
So mods on the repo can use real branding? I recently had 3 mods taken down for copyright reasons, all of them being tire skins (BFGoodrich, Goodyear, and Hoosier). (Oddly enough, the Nitto tires have yet to be removed.) If real branding can't be used, literally all my mods and skins except for one would be removed. Is real branding allowed or not on the repo? And should I save these questions for the Mod Support meeting? paging @synsol , @tdev as well.
Copyright and licencing are a quite complex topic. Notice the can in italic. The repo has strict rules on that, as we are theorically responsible for what gets in it. The forum, on the other side, is more open to copyrighted content (Those will be taken down if the copyright holder contact us, like it happened for some Assetto Corsa mod some time ago). Mod approval is not my task at the moment, so my informations may be outdated on this topic, I suggest to wait for a proper reply from @tdev or who knows.
You probably can't answer this, but I'll ask any how... will there be any purpose built race cars? As in, not race versions of street cars, but full blown, 100% built from the ground up race cars.
