Since I am an off-road kind of person I decided to make another buggy because why not. This time its gonna be a Meyers Manx related although it's still custom. My goal on this vehicle is to not only have it off-road compatible but also on-road tuning. Progress: model: Maybe done! Jbeam: WIP Note: Some parts are from the RG Sandstorm since I don't feel like modeling those parts again. There may be remodeling on some parts if I feel like it. Stay tuned for more progress! This one looks like it would be a TON of fun to drive, now if BeamNG only had offroad dirt physics...
Jackknife, Twister, Rascal, Vulture, Frenzy, Blitz, Centaur, the list of names could go on forever... For anyone who doesn't know about this, there's a website that randomly generates names for almost anything imaginable. It's super helpful if you're at a loss for creativity on that front, so if you ever need it it's here: http://fantasynamegenerators.com/
Thank you, because of that site, now I know what to call it, "RG Vortexx". I'll keep that site in mind when I make more vehicles.
You should have the top further forward than the bottom, so you would be less likely to get stuck going up/downhill An angled front rather then straight perpendicular
Ehh not feeling too good the past week so no progress besides the bumper tweak. Since I'm not an expert on modeling I'm probably not gonna put much details on it. If anyone wants to add some details to make it realistic, let me know. --- Post updated --- UPDATE I added lights to the front above the bumper. Added the extra fuel tank behind the seat for some details. (WIP) Added differentials and center drive shaft. (ignore the steering wheel angle) And lastly I added some brake disk which is copied from the RG Sandstorm because I don't feel like making another brake disk if its gonna be the same design. Later I will add some suspension bits. No jbeam yet, I just wanted to see if modeling it then jbeam could be easier then jbeam then modeling. More progress coming soon.
Its almost done! After this I'm going to make the jbeam or should I make it based off the sandstorm for a shortcut?
This is looking more like a trophy truck than a buggy... ... of course, not that there's anything wrong with that :3 Perhaps the only thing that bugs me is that the frame being shown outside of the body panels now that I see what a real buggy looks like. I think that it looks more sleek with the frame underneath and the panels bolted on like that, but that's just my personal preference :/ Other than that it looks pretty solid If you wanna use the Sandstorm as a Jbeam, then you're free to do so to see how it holds up, then maybe adjust it later if you decide to.
And of course, a trophy truck only looks like a truck because of the body panels put over it. Underneath however, the two have a similar aesthetic I agree that body panels outside would give a sharper, cleaner look. As a desert buggy, it's not a large deal, but with planned on-road tuning, it would seem appropriate.
OK how does this look? The panels is on the outside now... sorta, some parts still have the panels as it was like the front for example.
I think it looks nice. With high dual sport performance in mind, It gives off a stronger build quality feeling or something along the lines of a cleaner design. If it were to be like that, there would probably be some bolts in the panels to hold them on. Personally, I'm for both. I like both designs. It's your choice either way
UPDATE Sorry I haven't posted anything in this post in a while, I was busy with my real life R/C car, the RG RC pack, and life stuff. I did do some progress during my spare time. I manage to get the jbeam in(heavy WIP) and got the mesh ingame. I accidentally forgot to flip the face on the roof resulting in a dark roof which I think it looked kinda cool. XD Obviously on the pictures there's no wheels nor suspension jbeam yet The interior is gonna be alot different then the Sandstorm not only its a 2 seater but it now darker on the inside. There will be more to come(whenever I get a chance) so be patient.
